Hello to anyone who reads this. I’ve been in some dire straits for a while money-wise, but it seems AVAST has been taking my money without my knowledge on three separate occasions this year. I haven’t checked my account since the 14th of this month and that’s when I noticed I was being charged again for a product I had already paid for! I wasn’t using my money because I was saving for Father’s Day, so I didn’t check it but once either. Anyways, any help in getting my money back would be appreciated. I have a bank statement for the other charges, but only one ID for the one they sent to my email, so that’s the one I’ll post the ticket for here if it helps any. I’ll notify the bank of the other two if AVAST is unwilling to refund me since I understand they’re so long ago. I have one laptop, so the multiple charges make no sense to me…
I am really sorry about this situation. I was able to find several subscriptions registered under your name/billing address, but associated to different email addresses.
The one that got renewed recently was associated to gen*******15@aol.com. I’ve just cancelled this order and issued the refund for it.
The order from April is for pa*es@mate.edu, and the one from January is for the same email address you have registered here in the forum.
Are all those your addresses?
Yikes! The April order for pa*es@mate.edu doesn’t exist anymore. It hasn’t for over a year because the school’s email changed to @mga.edu with additional formatting. The order from January should be legit and shows on my statement as 39.99 (I believe I ordered Premier in that month; my current AVAST expires in January next year). The one from the school email shouldn’t have happened; not sure why it did because any emails sent to that address can’t be viewed. The aol email charge shouldn’t have happened either (that one is also mine) since I just bought Premier this year. Any cause as to why different emails–including dead ones–get separate charges?
Well, if you don’t cancel the subscription it will remain active until it gets cancelled. We have no means to know that the email address you registered is no longer valid or if you are ignoring the notices because you want to renew it. We just know that the subscription is active and that you haven’t cancelled. It is like subscribing to a magazine and then moving to another house. If you don’t notify the company, they will continue sending the magazine to the address they have in file.
As you mention that the order from April is also registered to an invalid email address I will cancel that one as well and issue the refund.
And yes, your Avast Premier subscription is valid until January 2017
Okay, gotcha. Sorry for that! I thought (at the time I was still in university) that I had migrated everything important to the new email system, but looks like I didn’t. But THANK YOU so much for the help! You don’t know how much this means to me :). Thank you for solving my problem!! Have a blessed day!
