One machine I use is still happy on Win 2000 Pro - and is too old to update. It rarely goes on line, and has been running on avast just fine. BUT - this time when I downloaded the instal file as instructed it says Win XP onwards only, and to download avast 8 Free. I can’t find it anywhere - three sites that claim to have it actually download the newest one from the version 8 link. Can anyone help me locate a safe download site for version 8 (or even 7, at a pinch !) ?

Bummer. It can’t cope. At the moment I can’t do a thing with it except in safe more… You know where I can go back to 7 - I think that was what it WAS running on…

You guys are awesome. I did try the hippo site - but couldn’t make it show me anything but 8…
Now if I could only REGISTER without the thing freezing my whole machine on me (I went through this last year - and yes, I left out the behaviour module…)
OK - so - I have 6 installed. And I shut down ZoneAlarm - which was the issue last year. But every time I go to register, the machine freezes completely. Any ideas ?
Or do I finally have to take the poor thing off line - it will be very sad, as it works fine, but I am not about to run with no AV

By the way this one is one of the most popular sites for downloads in Brazil. You can always use google translate Portuguese to English .
