Netflix blocked Avast VPN users

I primarily purchased Avast VPN to access region-locked content on Netflix, but today I received a notification that I couldn’t watch a show because Netflix detected the VPN. It’s really disappointing, as this was my main reason for getting the service.

I understand that it’s not directly Avast’s responsibility since Netflix has strict VPN restrictions, but it would be fantastic if there was a workaround. Hopefully, the Avast dev team sees this and can consider an update to help bypass Netflix’s detection in the future.

I don’t use the Avast VPN or any other VPN product, nor do I work for Avast.

However, I feel this issue is becoming more problematic for all VPNs, not just Avast.

Sites are tracking IPs connecting to their service/s and logging them. One this would check that the connection is from an authorised country. But I think that they may also be a traffic shaping algorithm, the number of connections made from that network. If that seems to be very high they may suspect VPN and block it.

VPN providers are going to need a lot more IPs within that location to reduce the number of connections made from that IP.

I think your image also highlights and other possible issue, that of “unblocker”. I think they may be talking about 3rd party browser add blockers. I use uMatrix and uBlock Origin Lite, some sites don’t like these either.
