Hi. I am very much appreciating Avast for android as have appreciated Avast for PCs for a number of years.
One bug noticed in Avast mobile, is that the network meter always shows wrong figures for the total traffic (or 0 as in attached capture). This happens to all today, monthly and yearly totals. The per app traffic seems correct.
Other net monitoring apps (eg 3G watchdog) show correct results on both WiFi and 3G usage.
Phone Samsung Galaxy Ace
OS Gingerbread 2.3.6, rooted
Avast version 2.0.3587 (but also noticed on all previous versions)
thanks for the report. The problem might be that we don’t just sum all the apps, but we show what the system tells us is total. In this case, the system apparently got it totally wrong We’ll look into it.
Yes ! Please !
Hi. Let me vote for mentioned modification.
I guess many users expected total network data in “All Application: XX.XX MiB”.
I can see there some informations (HTC Wildfire S) but they are not correct when I sum individual app data.
Your modification will be much appreciate. Thank you in advance 8)
I understand that there is a problem with the interpretation by Android of the WiFi data traffic.
According to Gsam Battery Statistics user guide:
“Wifi Active: How long has your wifi radio been on with a signal? Click on this row to see the amount of data transferred over your wifi network. Known Issue #1: Some Froyo-based phones don’t correctly report a wifi active state. Known Issue #2: When you turn on and off the Wifi radio, all data transferred stats are reset for wifi. So if you turn this on and off a lot, treat your transfer stats with a grain of salt.”
So it seems that when WiFi is powered off (a more or less expected situation to happen), statistics get zeroed. That could explain the 0 MiB reported in the screenshot. Also could explain the lower than the sum total traffic reported by WiFi (if it happens to update the total counter after a power off- power on cycle of the WiFi, so with an intermediate reading). Still I don’t understand the correct statistics per app, maybe these are not zeroed after WiFi is disconnected.
