MiB is the same as MB in a pure technical sense. It means 1024^2, or 2^20 bytes. The problem is that HDD manufacturers and OS/software developers etc. changed the meaning of MB to 1000^2 bytes, or even 1000x1024 bytes, so today no-one can really know, what it means. It’s always something different. That’s why IEC came up with a standard of MiB (mebibyte), that always means 1024^2 bytes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mebibyte). We’re using it so there could be no confusion or speculation about the numbers we are showing.
I wonder if it has something to do with the way it counts Avast data usage:
Today’s stats for 3g:
All Apps: .06
Avast MS: .11
everything else at 0.
In my previous post above when the status were off, it also showed Avast MS: .11
I’m not exactly sure where this avast usage is coming from. I have it checking for updates only on Wi-Fi, disconnected from my avast account, and unchecked the reporting option.
