I have Windows XP on my laptop and just downloaded avast 4 last week! The Network Shield is blocking info from by brokerage. I don’t have any other anti virus programs and the XP firewall is set to allow data from that site! When is pause the Net Shield it works fine! Any suggestions?
I don’t know why this might be happening but, the Network Shield should only scan for possible exploits and if found alert you with a pop-up warning and an audible warning and not block, it isn’t designed to do that.
Check the network shield’s details and it would show if there was an attack, also in the Customize, Settings ensure you have the options ticked. As you will see there in no block option but if an attack is detected and you have Show warning messages disabled then it might appear to be being blocked.
What protocol does the brokerage use https: (secure web page) to transfer data ?
What browser are you using ?
This has come up before. It’s something to do with a poorly written Java applet.

You can add the site to the Webshield whitelist to avoid the problem.
It isn’t web shield that ballyhooo is having the conflict with, if he disables ‘network shield’ it works, so I assume that the web shield is running at the time when it works.
Oh, okay. Must be something else then, but I’ve never seen network shield blocking a site.
Thx for all the suggestions! Will see what happens next!
