Hi all,

New beta version (release candidate) is out: AVAST 2015 R3 RC2 (build number 2015.10.3.2223)

Changes from RC1:

  • Fixed confirmation window for AOS in IE
  • Fixed problems with Sandbox on Windows 10
  • Fixed problem with not functional Firewall on Windows 10

Changes from Beta 3:

  • Fixed BSOD crash on Windows XP
  • Other smaller bugfixes and improvements

Changes from Beta 2:

  • Fixed problems with browser plugin Online Security in Internet Explorer
  • Other smaller bugfixes and improvements

Changes from Beta 1:

  • Fixed problems with HIPS - now remembers choice and not so often prompts
  • SafeZone is back - the original one for now…
  • Fixed issues with WebShield, when some page didn’t load or were loading too long
  • Beta updates are now delivered automatically to beta testers, just restart needed

Windows XP users: Please add this to registry and restart PC.
It will help us to better identify some crashes:

Changes from public version:

  • Grimefighter is now redone and called Cleanup.
    - runs without need of reboot
    - much faster
    - free for beta testers
    - runs on more devices (better compatibility)
  • Improved Windows 10 compatibility
  • Ability to check compatibility issues with other antivirus software
  • Host-based intrusion prevention system (HIPS): an installed software package which monitors a single host for suspicious activity by analyzing events occurring within that host
  • StreamFilter with HTTPS scanning is now available also for Windows XP/Vista
  • NG is not using Volume Shadow Copy Service anymore
  • Beta version will now be updated automatically once new beta version released

Known issues:

  • Tell us about them

Please test the following scenarios:

  1. Run Cleanup either via Scan->Scan for performance issues or via Smart Scan, clean your HDD, optimize registry
  2. Try to run Cleanup on machines where GrimeFighter couldn’t run in past
  3. Install Avast on the latest public build of Windows 10
  4. Install Avast on machine where is already running some other antivirus - you should get some warning during installation
  5. Run Smart scan on machine with more antiviruses, smart scan should show you some compatibility warning with offer to remove the other AV (currently we detect just some AVs). If detected try to uninstall them.
  6. Try browsing on https sites on machines with Windows XP or Vista
  7. Play with it as much as you can and please report any problems you find

Updated from RC1 using built-in program update. How can I make sure that my Avast! free instance is not broken? From my perspective, everything looks ok, but I would like to confirm it somehow.

Updating from 10.3.2222 UI - about to restart.

Updated from the UI, and rebooted

( Just back from a 10 days roadtrip. That is why I was not active on the forum )

Updated for win7 and win10 (10166) from UI.
In a first fast check after reboot it’s working flawlessly on both systems including “Sandbox” and “Safe Zone”.

Updated from RC1 automatically!

Stupid question this time  Any tips, how AOS on IE should work? Got the confirmation window, approved the plugin and nothing happened

Yes…https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=173334.msg1231692#msg1231692

I haven’t read too much about HIPS in the later betas. Is it fully functional and working as expected?

Maybe because weve gotten little word about what its function is supposed to be and have had to assume that its like the behavorial shield that used to be implemented in previous. Besides a few posts about certain things blocked that is but still nothing has been said unless you avangelists or higher know something the rest of us dont.

Boring… No problems

Win 8.1 x64, IE11

You said it!
;D

Way to go you guys.
Quite surprised by the update to RC2 as it came a little unexpected (firstly didn’t get what happened, then realised RC1 was updated to RC2)

Had experienced the firewall bug in Windows 10

But RC2… it’s \o/ so far

OT:- Go and have a Beer essexboy and cheer up  and I’m sure you might find something inside Avast 2015 R3 RC2

Did you try ‘SmartScan’ or ‘Cleanup’? I did under W8.1 32-Bit! See screenshot, ‘Cleanup’ didn’t work! But it’s still a BETA!
HDW

Aye cleanup now charges so I removed that bit

Smartscan works, the only scan not tried is boot scan

Thx, essexboy.

well I still can on Windows XP replicate the issue with Avast! preventing OS startup

the only solution is to to get rid of C:\windows\drivers\aswSnx.sys

IMHO the Avast Sandbox driver is colliding with Kerio Firewall drivers but I’m not sure
