I have just done an install over the top on this system. I can now see what you mean, that the data shredder icon in still in the UI Privacy tab. But it also has a lock icon superimposed over it, I would have though a No Entry sign/icon would have been more appropriate.
It is also the same in the Protection, Sandbox, Firewall and Secure DNS all have locks over them. I also believe these should be greyed out also to indicate they aren’t installed.
Especially for users with glasses. +1

Or better yet they should be grouped by installed or not, separated in two rows and on hover of not installed ones the text will change to clearly show you. Plus the lock icon when not on hover.

i can see both sides when it comes to this. they would love people to upgrade and add things on but i know i also HATE extras just sitting there. and i make sure to do custom and not install pretty much anything except the basic things i need. but for the sake of beta testing i use premier with everything installed it comes with. this way i can test out all the options and features and try not to miss issues i may otherwise not see, on my non beta systems however i would personally rather not see it at all even though i lic’s are for premier i dont use those extras (i get my lic’s from my company so i dont care that its premier)

Having had the hassle of trying to get AOS installed and working in Firefox 51.0.1, which failed miserably requiring many restarts, all of which I did.
I had occasion to open the UI again only to see that the Status reporting You’re Protected BUT ‘There are a couple of things to fix’. The FIX ALL option did nothing other than reporting a Restart was needed and now there was ‘1’ notification. This resulted in the issue reported by many of it never goes away, clicking on the Bell just sends on a merry go round (having reported You have no new notifications).
Running a Smart Scan reports nothing found.
About to restart once again.

If you got AOS working on FF, you’re one of the few lucky ones.
Did anybody try a clean install of avast and succeeded in installing the new AOS?

I believe some certainly have (seen in some topics) and some have done a clean install to try and resolve issues, over and above the AOS not working.

Clean install doesn’t work because the install routine is broken. Use this method:

That didn’t work for me at all (see post after RejZoR’s), I could get AOS installed, but no different to my original condition (beta install over the top of 2280), AOS showed enabled in FF51.0.1 but AOS didn’t work in searches and AOS icon in FF was greyed out.
I ended up going round in circles before disappearing up my nether regions.

First Hello to all and early I said I was interested in trying the beta and perhaps giving some input well I must say the new avast premier download went flawlessly but there are a few things and one is important
1 I notice what a few other testers have said that the GUI takes time to load in task bar and when you go into avast it takes time to open.not bad but you can notice the delay
2 this is confusing with the cleaner do you need the separate program or does premier have its own in the security program it’s very confusing needs to be told more clearly on this users are confused and me especially
3 this is the big one avast firewall is putting the users connection to public at home so when you put it to private you reboot and lose internet connection and omg I couldn’t get back on and on reboot it wouldn’t let me log into my windows account with no connection what so ever I had to do two system restores to finally get back to working condition with internet connection.and when checked the firewall is back to private now the can’t log into windows could be your cleaner removing something but connection lost issue was the firewall.
but online experience is smooth and fast boot is quick and shut down is good could be better hangs a little but overall you did an awesome job you should be proud great job avast team just work on number 3 that’s the big one that needs attention. I read a few other places that the also were having trouble with the firewall and internet connection.
Hope it helps you some

Hi Kinry,
could you please specify websites you are having difficulties with? I tried sina.com (is it correct?) in chrome and firefox browsers with web-shield and firewall running and so far no issues observed.
Thanks in advance,

If this is the correct version, then it’s working for me:

Prior to running the tests, mine to all intents and purposes was working as far looking at FF51.0.1 add-ons showed installed and enabled. But it didn’t work in searches, the AOS icon in FF browsing was greyed out and clicking that icon showed zero history/data.
