NEW Avast Version 20.8 (October 2020)

If you don’t want to wait, you can always update manually.

Hi, not sure what you mean, Microsoft doesn’t provide any updates for W7 anymore.

Hi,
What i mean there was a conflict with a avast free component and windows installer few release before this one.

As the issue was reproductible with avast team they correct this problem.

But with this last release the issue is coming back.

As soon as i removed Free avast, windows installer is running without problem.

Thanks for your help.

Gerald

Best you start a new thread and provide details…

How long do you have to wait longer?

I would like to understand if the automatic update works or if every time I have to remember to see if a new version is out.

Thank you.

There are still periodic updates “malware removal tool” (KB890830 v5.82 , v5.83, …) which continue to use the MSI on W7.
The last one for me was on September 9th and I had big difficulties to install it on my 2 w7 (due to avast?).

Hi,

Currently i uninstall freeavast and W7 propose to me Microsoft securitiy essential.

I put this to wait new stable Free avast without the issue.

Hope that they can correct this soon

Gerald

Today it finally updated itself after requesting me to reboot.
For now it seems not to cause problems for the PC.

Any info on (finally) fixing of “Create rescue disk” in near future ?
It is about time

Hello

I’m hoping someone here can help me. I upgraded my Windows 10 system last week. At the end of the upgrade, it advised that Avast wanted to upgrade as well, so I said yes and that upgrade went ahead.

However, somehow during that process Bitlocker has been triggered. I did not set up Bitlocker when I bought my laptop in February this year, so I do not have a recovery key. I’ve been speaking to Microsoft and they suggested that the Avast update might be responsible for this.

After speaking to Microsoft and Lenovo technocal support for days now, I still have no clear answers and can’t get into my computer. I can’t even do a clean install of Windows because I’m locked out of the c drive.

If Avast, or any Avast users, are aware of this happening and know what the fix is, I will be forever grateful. Just to confirm, I did not set up Bitlocker so there is no recovery key - I’ve looked on the appropriate section of Microsoft’s settings 50 times in the hope that it might appear, but no!

Also, one last idiosyncratic thing… I’m running Windows 10 Home which Microsoft say is not compatible with Bitlocker. So I’m actually stuck in a paradox!

Thank you in advance,
Anna

“Rescue Disk” section is here:
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=6.0
I have not tried to create a new Rescue Disk USB with 20.8, but was eventually working OK with 20.7.
If you saying you are having a problem creating a Rescue Disk with version 20.8. If you are, please start a new thread in the Rescue Disk section.
Please indicate Avast version and whether free or paid.
Also Windows version.

what is the full list of 100+ issue fixed?

can anyone who had shutdown problems with 20.6 and 20.7 confirm that 20.8 solves that?

not trusting an update until that is resolved, that was pure hell

Problem solved

Afaik, it should be fixed in 20.8

Avast deducted my money from my account, I did not get any email or notification, but got alerted by the bank and I have cancelled every subscription since last year. Please refund my money

Thanks for rectifying the issue and for good customer. service…

Thank you for confirming it has been resolved.

you are wrong, both 20.8 and 20.9 continue to have 5+ minute shutdown problems

the last working version is 20.5 but I cannot find any working/safe link for the 20.5 offline installer

Why are you saying that, clearly it is working for them or why would they report it is.
We have no idea what you are running on your system that is different to their system/s. It isn’t effecting everyone, I haven’t had this issue either.

GIVE US 20.5 OFFLINE INSTALLER direct download link please!

I have replied to your other post effectively repeating what was said before use filepuma.com and the links already given, in the very post above yours.

So you have a post above and below yours https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=234120.msg1566142#msg1566142 giving a direct download link.
