NEW Avast Version 23.2

Hi,
Please welcome the newest version of Avasts 23.2.6053 released on March 7th, 2023
Major public announcement:

  • Improvement Bank Mode - Be more secure while banking online with Bank Mode. It stops programs, like keyloggers, from stealing your personal info (e.g., bank login, passwords, and card details).
  • Redesign Immediate detection in Network Inspector – Get notified right away of any network security issue, especially if you’re connected to a suspicious Wi-Fi network. The notifications have a new look as well.
  • Improvement Faster File Shield - We’ve improved the speed of File Shield by using Kernel EAs, so it can scan files and programs faster for any malicious threats.
  • Bug fixes - fixed incompatibility with DxO PhotoLab and other software

Major thanks to the team for another successful release!

Thanks for the new release

This new technology is new to me (no mention in beta topic)
Seems like improved version of Persistent cache?

Thnx guys

It is a long time ago I was on the forum, but I am still with Avast.

Greetz, Red.

Kernel Extended Attributes… but it’s all French to me  I can ask someone to provide more details if you are interested…

Thank you !

Kernel EAs allows us to store file context info. This context info serves as cache of operations which should be otherwise done repeatly. Like validation of the file signature or computing file hash.

NO improvements !!! This “new” version is as bad as the previous one.
Avast blocks the access to some apps to use the filedialog. Disabling Avast doesn’t solve the issue; the only solution is to uninstall it and downgrade to an older version (while in the same time blocking the automatic update of the app).

Hi

It seems to work fine with DxoLabs ;D

For user that still have issues with some software, it should be fine to said how the soft or Avast is acting together ::slight_smile:

Guess the Avast Tk are working to all customer with so many soft to test :o

Have a nice day in France it’s a rainy day

Gerald

Long time no see, welcome back

Thank you for explanation!

whether the upgrade in bank mode can also be used by free users and what is the difference ?

File Shield performance improvement is certainly working well on my ancient (2006) Toshiba Satellite Pro P200 Windows 10 Pro x64 device. An old slow PC/laptop is ideal for ascertaining performance benefits. I guess that File Shield is the busiest feature in an Avast installation.

I am delighted with Avast Free 23.2.6053.

After the last update bank mode doesn’t start i can’t fix it. Can someone help me please.

The new version has updated the Bank Mode within the secure browser but removed all the passwords from the last version.

Any ideas how to get them back without having to tediously do it manually?

Hello,
let me answer to you:

frank_riloaded, can you please tell us more or send us logs from c:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log? Please also try to change your default browser to Avast browser and see if the Bank Mode starts working for you again.

Mark136, you mean that passwords from your browser inside Bank mode were removed? I would recommend to use the Sync feature inside Avast Browser to get them synced inside Bank Mode.

Hope this helps!

Setting Avast as default browser does not solve the bank mode issue.

Any solution, please? ::slight_smile:

Setting it a s the default is not the same as setting up sync.

How do I remove the “Avast:Safe” label that appears in all emails (Gmail)>

You shouldn’t post duplicates, stick with your original topic - https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=323075.msg1702247#msg1702247

And state/confirm which Avast version you are using the Avast One product version or Avast Antivirus product.

Maybe I should have posted my issue here instead of starting a new topic titled “Ver. 23.2 - Bank Mode Task Bar Icons Stopped Launching Apps”

Anyway, that’s my issue: Immediately after the 23.2 update I can no longer launch any apps from the Bank Mode task bar except the browsers. This happened on both a desktop and laptop with different makes, models and configurations. Windows 10 with all updates installed on both. System restores to a pre-23.2 update let things work correctly until the 23.2 update occurred.

I could use help in finding and fixing the problem as I often depend on Bank Mode for a degree of safety.

Thanks.

It was already explained in your other post that this has been forwarded to Avast and Avast is aware of the bug
and is working on a fix. Please stick with one topic to avoid confusion.
