Hi,
Please welcome the newest version of Avasts 23.2.6053 released on March 7th, 2023 Major public announcement:
Improvement Bank Mode - Be more secure while banking online with Bank Mode. It stops programs, like keyloggers, from stealing your personal info (e.g., bank login, passwords, and card details).
Redesign Immediate detection in Network Inspector – Get notified right away of any network security issue, especially if you’re connected to a suspicious Wi-Fi network. The notifications have a new look as well.
Improvement Faster File Shield - We’ve improved the speed of File Shield by using Kernel EAs, so it can scan files and programs faster for any malicious threats.
Bug fixes - fixed incompatibility with DxO PhotoLab and other software
Major thanks to the team for another successful release!
How to install:
[ol]- Update from your existing Avast version via Settings → Update → Update program
Kernel EAs allows us to store file context info. This context info serves as cache of operations which should be otherwise done repeatly. Like validation of the file signature or computing file hash.
NO improvements !!! This “new” version is as bad as the previous one.
Avast blocks the access to some apps to use the filedialog. Disabling Avast doesn’t solve the issue; the only solution is to uninstall it and downgrade to an older version (while in the same time blocking the automatic update of the app).
File Shield performance improvement is certainly working well on my ancient (2006) Toshiba Satellite Pro P200 Windows 10 Pro x64 device. An old slow PC/laptop is ideal for ascertaining performance benefits. I guess that File Shield is the busiest feature in an Avast installation.
frank_riloaded, can you please tell us more or send us logs from c:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log? Please also try to change your default browser to Avast browser and see if the Bank Mode starts working for you again.
Mark136, you mean that passwords from your browser inside Bank mode were removed? I would recommend to use the Sync feature inside Avast Browser to get them synced inside Bank Mode.
Maybe I should have posted my issue here instead of starting a new topic titled “Ver. 23.2 - Bank Mode Task Bar Icons Stopped Launching Apps”
Anyway, that’s my issue: Immediately after the 23.2 update I can no longer launch any apps from the Bank Mode task bar except the browsers. This happened on both a desktop and laptop with different makes, models and configurations. Windows 10 with all updates installed on both. System restores to a pre-23.2 update let things work correctly until the 23.2 update occurred.
I could use help in finding and fixing the problem as I often depend on Bank Mode for a degree of safety.
It was already explained in your other post that this has been forwarded to Avast and Avast is aware of the bug
and is working on a fix. Please stick with one topic to avoid confusion.
