How to install:
[ol]- Update from your existing Avast version via Settings → Update → Update program
Here’s what Avast reported about this:
“The Ransomware shield and Password protection components are now dependent on the Behavior shield. So if one of these two shields is installed, the Behavior shield cannot be removed. The dependency has been introduced for better experience in repetitive detections/block persisted in WMI events and better security. This dependency is described in popup help, but we know that this is not obvious enough, so the component list will be modified in the next version and the dependency will be immediately evident.Thank you for your understanding.”
"A design change and description in popup help will be modified. "
I installed this most recent update to Premium Security under my Windows 7 OS, rebooted… and when I clicked on the tray icon to view the Avast interface menu, I get a totally black screen. Nothing to click on or interface with. When I hover my mouse over the tray icon, it shows “You are Protected”. So the software seems to work fine, except that there is no software interface available, as I stated above. This seems like a compatibility issue with either Windows 7 (I have service pack 1), or some other software conflict with another program or computer configuration. I had no problems with any past updates until this one. Go figure.
Excuse me, just an informational question… When a new version is released, does the released version take into account all the released betas?
So it contains by default all the individual improvements made in the single betas of that version?
It should contain all betas prior to release of the same basic version number e.g. 23.3.xxxx, there is however almost a constant stream of beta testing, but would have a higher base number, e.g. 23.4.xxxx.
For this you really need to monitor the beta sub-forum - https://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=15.0 - as to the last beta version and build number against what you have for the regular release version number.
That is also the latest regular release - Avasts 23.3.6058 released on April 4th, 2023 given in this topic, Reply #1, but that doesn’t give build number.
The user interface and notifications in the new Avast version is broken. The user interface is transparent at first but after minimize and restore its black. The notifications are also black.
If I uninstall 23.3.6058 and then install 23.2.6053 the user interface is working again.
Update done, my Windows 7 no longer starts.
I tried the repair with the installation disc but it doesn’t work anymore. Renaming the aswRvrt.sys file to aswRvrt.old the error drops to another file and so on if I continue until it crashes with no message.
