Hi Lukas

ahh, could this be the issue ive been having since updating this morning.
please check here https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=327343.0

Browser cookie protection – Password Protection now protects you against cookie theft. This new functionality helps protect your sensitive data that is stored in your browser cookies.

could this be why every email (home & work), all forums and facebook logs me out as soon as i close firefox even though i tick the keep me logged in box. I have avast pasword manager auto fill but with all the emails i have to go through the two factor authentication every single time so wait for another email to be sent to a scond account with a login code. luckily my phone stays logged into all the emails so i can receive the 2 factor authentication.
can individual users opt out of this cookie protection.

I’m assuming if I don’t have Password protection (i’m an Avast Free user), I won’t gain this new feature?

Yes this fuction is not for free version.

Thanks for the new release

These ads do not appear in the popup window that appears after you have performed the update and restarted.

There is only : “bug fix”.

I just updated, and mine to show all the new features on restart pop-up. Perhaps they fixed that this week.

I hope so.

Now that everything’s up to date for me, it’s hard to tell whether it’s a recent correction or a translation problem (French)?

Maybe it’s possible to find this popup again at any time, but I don’t know how.

Check your program version and build number. Mine are 24.4.6112 and 24.4.9067.762, respectively.

I updated on 30/4 and like Chris above there was no mention of password or cookies and just a 2 line of general bug fixes. i didnt get a screenshot this time.
mine is now same as above 24.4.6112 and 24.4.9067.762

24.4.6112 and 24.4.9067.762 too

and it was already exactly the same version when I updated it.

Probably the UI version has changed

I have 1.0.803 but I don’t know if I had that when I updated.

Still has issue with restoring a quarantine file on dual boot systems.

I also have UI version 1.0.803.

So this doesn’t pop up for me on a restart. It pops up for me after I wake my computer from Sleep. I’m on Windows 10.

EDIT: removed the wrong text. I was referring to the Real-time protection alert, not the Browser cookie protection. My mistake.

I don’t see what this new “Browser cookie protection” has to do with a popup that appears at start-up or when you wake up from sleep. ???

  • This new function seems to be a problem for some of us (MrDJ here but it’s not a popup problem.

  • The popup problem at start-up (bob3160 here or Zoart666 here) is not linked to this new function but rather to avast’s desire to indicate that the antivirus is working properly via Windows notifications.

Please remove this useless notification…

Because i’m an idiot and quoted the wrong line. Fixed the typo here and in my post you quoted.

Anyways, we’re on the same page now with what we’re talking about. I don’t get that notification after a restart, just on a wakeup from sleep. Not sure if that’s because of my OS (Windows 10) or because I have some other Windows setting set in a certain way, or an Avast setting for this notification that I didn’t see.

So as a result, it’s less annoying for me since I restart my computer more often than I put it in sleep mode.

+1
even though my PC is not yet affected with the latest version installed 1 week ago.

However, I don’t think our opinions (even if there are a lot of them) count a lot for avast :-[

@Dinobot2
ok, I understand better now

Notification popup on every system start is stupid and annoying. Who thought we needed this? We already have the orange ball in tray, why do we need this too? And it’s not even app native popup, it’s using the absolute worst method aka Windows notification center. And worst of all, it doesn’t even popup on system start. It just colors the notification bell. So annoying and I hate it to a point I’m going back to Windows Defender. It’s crap, but at least it doesn’t do this.

EDIT:
I had to force disable it in Windows Notification center. Sigh.
