Something is VERY wrong with AVG. I got a popup about a scan for junk, toolbars and other stuff. It only had X button and CLEAN button. And the X did nothing. So I clicked Clean thinking I’ll cancel the scan right away. for long nothing happened and I clicked BACK arrow on the left and got back to main interface. And that’s when weird stuff started happening. When clicking a gear icon for additional scans I just got some very cryptic error message on top with no scans at all.

What i messed up a bit unfortunately is that I’ve removed AVG already so I can’t post any other details, other than what I just told here.

Now this is happening when I click gear icon (to access other scans) in AVG’s main interface…

hi, i get the same error message as well, please help, thank you

Good question !

How is Avast going to support AVG releases ?
We (Uber) Evangelists have no clue as well !

Greetz, Red.

Go to Programs and Features and instead of uninstalling AVG, use REPAIR function. That, for some reason fixed the issue. Just not ure why it happened in the first place…

with avg IS beta 17.1.3006

why i got this error

while program says your pc is protected

i can’t fix it when i press fix

on the other hand where i can download the final version?

thank you RejZoR that worked. its ok know

Though not sure why it got broken all by itself all of a sudden. This shouldn’t be happening.

  1. 17.1.3006 is the final version, it is not beta.
  2. You receive this error because it was a known bug in previous beta versions and Avast somehow decided to release the final version without fixing the bugs.
  3. Try logging in into an AVG account, they said it was a workaround for the beta bug.

Whilst I’m not using the AVG beta or release version, I may have some sort of explanation.

Some time ago the avast UI used to have Beta in the UI, we were told this was because we were on the beta testing stream. Having previously run the beta version, you would get the next beta version if one was released.

Users of the regular avast release version aren’t offered the beta version, but those who did would be offered it as a program update.

So I just wonder if something like this is going on here.
A clean reinstall of AVG or Avast would normally take you off the beta stream, so you shouldn’t see the Beta branding or be offered the beta.

I’m not sure, this bug with the not-protected in Zen but okay in AV was in the previous beta, they should have fixed it. It’s a 1 percent chance that it is a new bug. I somehow feel like only AVG Zen is in beta now. I think i’ll just thrash AVG because it’s out of beta and move to Avast’s one. ;D If it needs more testing i don’t really care, they should have kept AVG in beta if that was the case.
