A clean installed resolved the UI message. When the installation was complete I did have to Reinsert my ‘Avast license file’ to resolve the fact the AIS was now in “trial mode”.
I have to say I’m totally unsurprised by this, considering it has been gone for so long, supposedly for revision.
I despair, that totally defies logic. Unless avast are going to regularly scan files in the virus chest and restore them if no longer detected. But I can’t see them doing that, avast is getting blacker and blacker as useful functions are removed and functions added that have limited/no place in an antivirus program.
I would have to ask what is achieved by removing a rescan option in the virus chest, certainly not a reduction in resource use or space.
What used to have Avast stand out from the crowd is morphing into into the crowd an indistinguishable blob, some could say the same as the avast tray icon and orange blob.
It also makes a bit of a pigs ear of submitting files to the labs for analysis - how the hell do you test to see if they are now considered clean or infected if they were considered an FP.
I’m almost thinking Avast is morphing into AVG, rather than the other way round.
From the very start of the takeover by Avast the AVG UI has looked the more professional looking interface.
The AvastUI is too damn big and as such has acres of empty space and a UI that loads at snails pace. Not to mention the avast tray icon context menu for the virus chest that has to first open the main UI.
Hello all, just a heads up for this beta version. im currently running live version 18.3.2328, or i was until i recently was forced to uninstall it. Prior to the 18.3.2328 patch update, avast worked just fine on my machine along with the primary program i run, World of Warcraft. However once the 18.3.2328 update hit, i could no longer run World of Warcraft. The program refuses to boot, though the task manager shows the process in the background.
I have been following this troubleshooting thread on your forums, attempting the different suggested fixes to see if they would resolve the issue. Ill paste the link below. So far, all proposed possible fixes have failed, including one that suggested i try this beta version. I noticed in the update notes above that it lists fixes for program crashes. I had hoped that included World of Warcraft but apparently not.
Just wanted to let yall know that this update has left this issue untouched. Thanks for the time.
