What is New
Scanning
Scan startup: Changed how the scan engine accepts connections to address engine instances left waiting for a client.
What Was Fixed
Installation
Browser protection updates: Fixed a component file being skipped or removed during Avast and AVG program updates.
Web Protection
Secure browsing delays: Reduced repeated waits for browser connection data that could delay secure website traffic.
Settings and Folder Protection
Separate Windows user settings: Corrected user-specific settings being stored under the product service account rather than the signed-in Windows user.
Known Issues
Protection and Scanning
Main service crash [Critical]: AVG Free’s main protection service may crash during an automatic sandbox check.
Quarantine conflict: Moving a targeted-scan result to quarantine may fail while Smart Scan is starting.
Application Window
Background component crash: A crash has been reported in an advertising-measurement component. The customer-visible symptom is not established.
Do Not Disturb
Fullscreen interruptions [Critical]: Do Not Disturb rules may be ignored, causing an app to lose focus or leave fullscreen mode.
User Settings
Per-user settings [Critical]: User-specific settings may be shared incorrectly between Windows users. A correction is included in this build, but the issue remains open in Jira. Confirm its release status before publication.
Firewall
Application-rule processing: Separate application-rule updates cause repeated firewall-rule rebuilds, especially during startup or installation.
Firewall configuration: A network driver has been reported starting without its expected configuration and filtering rules after an Avast Free offline installation. The protection impact is still under analysis.
Privacy
Stale privacy results: Privacy Monitor may use an older scan summary. A guest scan may report success when its scan identifier was not saved.
Uninstallation
Event Viewer error: Removing Avast or AVG may leave a product-service failure entry in Windows Event Viewer.
