NEW: Beta version released - 12.2.2275

Hi all,

new beta version is live: 12.2.2275
In this release, we are trying to finish a few long-going internal projects. Especially improved licensing and registration to Windows Security center.

Fixes and improvements:

  • Fixed issues with the new implementation of Windows Security center registration
  • The new Settings > Components menu is ready - please report any issues

Known Issues:

  • From time to time, Avast GUI opens without any apparent reason

Download links as usual or just update your current beta.

Enjoy,
Petr

Hi Petr,

I can’t update from previous beta, the error message is ‘last encountered error: invalid file signature. Setup will terminate’.

Maybe still propagating through the servers, be patient

You’re right, just rebooted PC and updated via the GUI

Patience is a virtue.

Thanks for the patience and enjoy the beta

I’ll post what I said in the previous BETA topic and hope to get a response from Avast:

This is a welcome addition of Components Menu where users can install/uninstall modules easily and finally trying to fix the WSC issues. I’m also happy that the components are more clearer so users would know they are installing browser extensions.

The Mail Shield must be included within Minimal install since it can give first indications of malware such as Spambots which David has mentioned. On top of this, it uses no resources if not in use.

Since the nitro update, I’ve experienced Avast loading slower after startup so I would suggest trying to improve that. On top of this, would it be possible to see some CyberCapture statistics to see if it’s actually working…

I would also like to see files which trigger CyberCapture to have an option to “run in sandbox” for paid users.

Avast! is a lot slower right now…Not that i have not had GUI Hangs before but i am seeing it more often on other machines now. ;D

Yes, Web Shield should be included in Minimal installation as well.

Anybody here with Windows XP?

Please could you try online installation on clean OS (without avast)? Is SafeZone installed after installation? Please ignore what is in Avast UI, just verify whether you have the launcher.exe file in Program Files\Avast Software\SZBrowser. SafeZone browser should be installed right after Avast installation finishes (not visible in installation progress bar).

Links to online installers are here: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=179943.0

Thanks a lot

Thanks for the update, I’ll install it after finishing clean reinstall of my Win7.

And this has been reported by many users at the forum and directly to avast team, none of which is even mentioned in this and past few beta versions and avast keep on saying “we are working on it” are you :frowning:

Windows 7 Home Premium PC seems slower than previously, might do a clean install of the beta and see if helps any, at this point though seems a lot slower than it used to be, Specs of System are Intel Atom 230 1.6ghz, 1.5gb of ram, 160gb hard drive, Comcast Internet, Wireless N, (2.4ghz band since Comcast gateway doesn’t have 5ghz yet, til I get a newer one).

Working nicely so far (for me anyway).

My initial observations running Window 10 x64 laptop via wireless 2.4g internet connection:

(Note: I only opted to install the 3 shields)
An installation comment stated the safe zone browser would be installed but I avoided that by doing a custom install and unchecking everything except the 3 shields
The installation time (doing a clean install via online installer) seemed to take a bit longer than previous versions
This beta fixed the inability to backup settings (at least for me anyway)
It seems to be light on resources when scanning and when idle (idle shown below)

Also, it also has not adversely affected my 2.4g internet connectivity speed (about the same as before)

In summary, no issues so far (for me anyway).

Lookin’ good…

Could you elaborate what seems to be slower? Is it UI or scanning (PC)? Does it concern launch or rather response time, copying files?

In my case it’s the time it takes avast to launch after startup which causes the delay and keeps the PC sluggish until it starts.

Installed Pro edition on Win7 SP1 64bit using online installer, got a BSoD while installing. :frowning:
After reboot I found avast installation broken, repair nor normal uninstall not working.
Uninstalled using avastclear, reinstalled and so far no problems.

My problem with UI not showing up on clean/upgrade install on previous beta seems to be fixed now.
This beta is running OK

Hello all,

I just discovered a possible annoyance with this new beta. I am running Win 10 x64 on a wireless laptop and this screen pops up periodically. I saw it 5 times in the last 24 hours and I was only on my laptop for a few hours and each time there was a different “offer” at the bottom (circled):

Anybody else getting this pop up? Is this a new form of advertising perhaps?

Thanks,

gus

Your image link doesn’t work, it isn’t displayed. I believe it is because the url inside the img tag needs to be wrapped the url tags

[url]https://s31.postimg.org/6he81jlez/advert.jpg[/url]

http://https://s31.postimg.org/6he81jlez/advert.jpg

EDIT: No that isn’t it you need to investigate the correct url at your image site to display it in a web board.

It would actually be easier to attach the image to your post.

EDIT 2: Having seen your image by another means, this has been there for some considerable time, the lower quarter of the UI screen in the free version has always had some offer or ad of sorts.

This is much more preferable than screen popups.
