NEW: Beta version released - 2016.12.1.2264

Hi all,

new beta version is live: 2016.12.1.2264
In this beta we focused on internal improvements and bugfixes.

Changes:

  • Internal enhancements of the licensing component
  • Fixed problem with closing post-update window
  • SecureLine icon issues fixed
  • SafeZone browser - Introducing New Pay Mode

Known issues:

  • Data Shredder UI doesn’t work correctly
  • User interface might freeze after inserting a license
  • Passwords Extension installation status is not updated during passwords activation, user has to wait for skip link to be shown (30s) to be able continue
  • SafeZone Browser - Sometimes, Pay Mode fails to start. Restart of the browser should help
  • SafeZone Browser - Dummy notifications and landing pages of Pay mode

Download links as usual or just update your current beta.

Enjoy,
Petr

Any news on HIPS and Stats? When they reintroduce? And Anti-Ransomware??

The new “Pay Mode” is very good, Avast congratulations for the great work!
Very happy with his great modification!

What do you mean with ’ SecureLine icon issues fixed ’ ?
I am using SecureLine, but I have no idea what you are talking about.

Greetz, Red.

Any word on this?

+ Removed NG (VHardware virtualization) - moved the technology to cloud, in next betas we will introduce new flow for handling unknown files

Red,
in previous Beta, the SecureLine taskbar icon did not reflect the connection state correctly. It has been fixed in 2016.12.1.2264.

True Ind,
it is still work in progress. Part of it is already there, but the work was done “under the hood”. Once we will have something to show, it is going to be properly announced. Stay tuned!

Cleanly installed 2016.12.1.2264 Pro for my Win7 machine.
Working fine so far, except for HIPS issue from previous build.

This is weird.
I installed the latest version (12.1.2264), then I rebooted and it failed to load components. When I tried to repair the install, it failed to load the language.dll, saying that it was looking for it in a folder called “1033”, but it was in a folder called " 1040". So, I rebooted in safe mode, I copied everything that was in the “1040” in a new folder, which I renamed “1033”. Then, I rebooted in normal mode and everything was fine.

OS: Windows XP Professional SP3 - Extended Support

AV Version: Avast Premier Beta 12.1.2264. (Paying user and beta-tester).

Thanks for responding.Good to hear. Also avast! improved from previous months over here:
http://chart.av-comparatives.org/chart1.php?chart=chart2&year=2016&month=4&sort=1&zoom=3

as you may know some week ago there was released vulnerability in all earlier 7-zip versions prior v16

http://www.talosintel.com/reports/TALOS-2016-0093/
http://www.talosintel.com/reports/TALOS-2016-0094/

many other security software already rushed to close those holes (e.g. Malwarebytes)

now Avast! uses the 7-zip library too

so the most important question is - was the library updated to 7-zip v16 (or newer) with those fixed ?

So far So good…its a improvement over the last beta.I am liking the fact that the deepscreen stuff is going to be cloud related. It just had too many factors when it came to the working of it on a user’s machine.Like HW Virtualization etc etc

The latest beta is 12.1.2265 https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=186628.0.
