I’m an Avast Premium subscriber and found myself in front of this ridiculous new Firewall. I wanted to understand and mind a fool who designs such a thing.
He thought of you and not the subscribers! It was a good firewall with tree view and rule creation. Now it’s the worst of all. So much so that I’m already looking for a new security suite like Bitdefender or Kaspersky because the way it is it’s impossible to get used to! Firewall made by children.
This would already be Norton’s hand ending the application. A shame as it was good while I was in the Czech Republic. I’ve never seen a Firewall that can’t create rules, that doesn’t see an application. This is the greatest absurdity!
A company that does this cannot take care of my security!
Hello n33h11 … I fully agree with what has been said and I am very, very angry about this change in the firewall … I was so comfortable with the AVAST firewall that I PAID the security sub premium with other modules that were also offered to me … and now, out of nowhere, I find that I have to look for something else for the future … unless they go back with this decision of wanting to blatantly harm their users, in something as delicate as the firewall module. . Your comment is very successful … greetings
It was a poorly thought out update from my previous software suite that made me jump ship to avast…now this update is making me definitely leave avast.
Who releases a software firewall (that I paid for) and locks ME out of the rules in my own firewall???
I hope they come to their senses and quickly at least patch out the “locked” rules…asap…
Unfortunately I couldn’t wait for the company’s willingness to at least try to fix this serious flaw. To be honest, I don’t even think that a correction will come, it will stay that way.
This ridiculous new Firewall we paid for is going to look like this going forward.
The solution I found was to migrate to Kaspersky Internet Security which still has licenses with Black Friday prices. I already uninstalled Avast, not even a sign of it on my machine. And not only did I cancel the Premium version of Windows, but all the other services I had with the company, even on Android.
Now I have Kaspersky on both Windows and Android. Pleased! It’s sad to see the company sinking like that. It wouldn’t be a coincidence for Norton to get his hands on Avast and everything started to fall apart. Sad days ahead, apparently…
Here’s the situation: jump off the boat, there’s still time! Kaspersky and Bitdefender are there and they are cutting-edge systems. Avast no longer deserves our trust, as it has lost credibility! And with Norton in control, it’s all over!
The new Firewall is similar in terms of functions and interface, except for the default network rules that cannot be modified, but added.
Otherwise it has additional protections to the previous one and I do not see a major problem.
I don’t understand the comments or see so much inconvenience, just get used to the new interface a little, simply.
The Firewall fulfills its function.
The Firewall fulfills its function and like other Firewasll, except for very specific exceptions, they do not need to make any modifications to the established configuration
This new Firewall is a disgrace! It has nothing functional and on top of that it loses basic functions. In fact, I see this as just a big joke by Avast. This can’t be serious…
A company that takes care of people’s safety to do such a thing is shameful to say the least. It totally loses the credit it had and now deserves to be discredited.
This Firewall was designed to be ridiculous, insane and at the same time a pillar of corporate shame. You can’t confine it to a company that does this kind of thing! This calls into question the entire philosophy of the security company. What if tomorrow other freaks show up? I believe this will become an addiction and more disappointments will follow.
It’s no use saying he’s good or that. Get the Firewall from Kaspersky, Bitdefender and even Windows. They are fully functional, practical and customizable. Pass security! Avast tried to look pretty in the photo, but ended up blurring it. It managed to be the worst firewall among all the security suites, to the point that it would be better to go without it than to have something terrible like this.
What annoys even more is that we paid for it, it wasn’t free. I paid for this crap. But better late than never…my license has 163 days to expire. Better to get rid of it now than wait to see the boat sink.
Congratulations to Norton who got the project to sink Avast right!
I am a paid user, and I have tried over the years all antivirus and Firewalls and honestly, I see no reason for criticism, The Firewall has the same functions and even improved protection.
Maybe some section, with the network rules that can not be modified, but if you add new ones.
Firewalls today do not need to be configured normally and fulfill their function.
The Avast changed the interface a bit, but nothing more, I think the complaints in this case are baseless
I can only state one thing, based on observing of all the people’s complaints about the changes in Avast Firewall.
Windows Firewall (default one) has a more in-depth control over the creation and editing of the existing rules.
There’s a big flexibility in the Windows Firewall. And there’s none in Avast.
For common users it might be a good thing.
But for advanced users it’s horrible!
At least, there should be a switch to advanced mode, in Avast’s settings that allow to configure Firewall the same in-depth as Windows Firewall allows, and edit the rules. That way it will appeal to anyone, and not just to common users, who might not even know the difference between Firewall and Antivirus all that much.
And I really doubt that protection is that much better in Avast Firewall to justify its usage over the default firewall.
The simplest reason for such doubts, is how huge the userbase is for the default Windows Firewall (over the course of all Windows versions) than for Avast Firewall.
So they could get more chances to get more bug reports, catch problems, fix things.
Windows Firewall, most likely, is the most reliable out of most alternative products.
It’s no use saying that the Firewall hasn’t changed because it has changed! And for the worse! It was one of the best Firewalls I had, with tree view, creation of rules and program groups. Now what we have is a freak impersonating firewall.
It’s no use saying that it hasn’t changed, that everything is as it was before, because that doesn’t make sense! For those who paid for the program and saw how it worked, coming across this curse can now say that Avast is over. Witnessed the end of an era! It went from being a security suite to being an ad blocker or just a “malwarevast” of life.
Avast is no longer a competitor of Kaspersky, Bitdefender, Eset, and others to be a competition of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Doctor Web…
