New Forum Setup

Just who created the new format for the forum? I have been a member of a number of computer/PC/software forums over the years, and this new setup is both confusing and unrealistic. Totally unusable for most people.

You should have been here for the first incarnation of this new forum software - it was taken down, it was even more confusing than now.

Yes it is difficult but not impossible. I’m not entirely sure it is right for this type of forum, it seems more social network forum than support forum. But that is the kind of forum software on many such sites.

It took me time to get used to it and still I have navigation issues at times, to the point when I find common start points I save them in a Browser Tab set up for the Avast Forum with these URLs saved there.

This is just one - Shows the forum Sub-Sections - when I find others I save them.

To help navigation to specific favourite Categories/Topics, it is possible to add a shortcut (link) to each in the “Custom” Section within the hamburger Menu (top right). You can only add 2 links side by side, but can add extra lines of 2 links.

The basic Categories/Topics selection tool is useless as it cuts off some subjects mid length.

Revisiting this topic - and navigation in particular - I have taken to adding browser Tabs (in firefox) and you can group multiple links within that tab. This will have to do for now until a better solution in the forums is available.

It seems that the bulk of people now dump their question in General. It’s a mess.
