I’m new to Avast and so far, I like what I see. Approximately the same time as I installed Avast 4.6, a new Icon appeared in my taskbar. This Icon is identified as being for “A34-mmp.direcpc.com”. I can not identify the program this is associated with. I do have a Direcway satellite system, but not Direcpc, which is very similar but not quite the same. Could this icon be associated with Avast?

No the icon doesn’t belong to Avast!, looks like it belongs to your satellite system.
Does the icon remain there or disappear?
Can you post a screen shot of it?
It could be the mail scanner icon… Did you connect to that server to get mail?

That makes sense, forgot about that…
I’ve spoken to Direcway Support. They don’t have any information regarding that icon. They state it isn’t theirs. Icon is not always present.
Is the icon a enveloppe and if you move the mouse over it you see “A34-mmp.direcpc.com”?
Well, wouldn’t be much easier if you make a screenshot and post it in here ?
That way we all would get much better picture of what icon are you talking about… especially 'cause you haven’t explained how that icon looks like… it could be that it’s avast! mail scanner icon, so when avast! is scanning your incoming and outgoing e-mails, it’s normal that icon appears in system tray.
