New Laptop - Just installed and get error for Mail

I get the following error from when I start my computer.

Not able to protect incoming mail. Error 10013
Not able to protect outgoing mail. Error 10013
Not able to protect news. Error 10013

We will need more information to be able to help you:

  • Which OS are you using? Is it up to date?
  • Do you use a firewall? Which one?
  • Do you have any other antivirus installed in your system? Did you have in the past?
  • Any other security programs that could interfere?
  • Which is your email program?
  • Which is your email server? Does it uses SSL (secure connections)? GMail?

This is commonly cause by another AV or remnants of one on your system (or other security software that monitors email). Commonly new systems come with an installed AV with a short trial subscription.

So Tech’s 3rd and 4th question are important.
