Hi all,
it’s my pleasure to announce the general availability of a new official build of avast, version 6.0.1203.
Here’s the list of most important changes:
improved compatibility with Windows Vista SP0/SP1 (activation issues)
attempt to solve the “Windows Media Player using a red skin” problem
Firewall: solved the compatibility problem with uTorrent
improved load time of WebRep IE plugin
fixed a bug in Google Chrome WebRep plugin causing excessive CPU usage
improvements in the silent installer
improved the CommunityIQ sample submission process
improved detection/removal of the most stubborn rootkits (TDL family)
various stability and compatibility improvements in the sandbox module
added new CreditAlert feature (US customers only)
added Thai and Serbian language packs
You can use the built-in product updater or download links on our main website.
Of course, thanks to all the beta testers for their hard word.
Thanks
Vlk
Just updated via GUI and everything seems to be working fine in my Windows 7 SP1 PC… I will give it a try in my XP Home Edtion SP3 PC.
Thanks for all the efforts to continue to provide such a great security product… “The Best for me ever”…

Hi, I unfortunately see same 100% CPU utilisation problem, mentioned to be resolved in version 6.0. It is not!
I removed now behaviour shield, as was recommended, now need to restart to see if it helps. If not – I’ll have to remove othervise nice Avast. I have W7 SP1 Ultimate 64-bit, with i7 CPU 6GB RAM.

What about the BSoD that some of us got??
Is the new version use more or less memory usage?
Updated Avast Free via AvastUI from 6.0.1198 to 6.0.1203. Ran quick scan, all is well as is usual. 8)

That was one of the areas which I believe was addressed, but you would have to check it out if you weren’t involved in the beta release prior to this update.
Memory usage is broadly the same as 6.0.1125 (and the beta builds) on my systems, they were never high.

Updated through UI from previous stable build and everything is running smooth. Thanks for the continual updates of an already great product. Oh yea, I unchecked the CreditAlret notification setting as I do not want it. Thanks for making it optional, with no nagging…Much appreciated! ;D
