I just upgraded my pro to the new 5.0 version (now have a orange ball in the tray not the blue one)
I started to get a pop up on start up saying the file PYTHON25.DLL could not be found. I have had one of these DLL things before and i had to find it manually and rename it to solve the problem.
But i decided to familiarize myself with the new interface box as it is different than the other version and scheduled a boot scan. i clicked restart and on the start of the scan it detected an infection i hit 3 to move to chest and it came up with yet another and again i hit 3 but then another and a message saying the operation failed because the disk was full}
Is this another false positive ??
This is the infection message~~
File C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\Spyware Fixes\ SmitfraudFix.exe >smitfraudFix\restarts exe is infected by win 32: Shutdowner-CD [pup]
I am currently using my other computer which is in the same room and networked together while the other computer is still performing its scan as i hit ignore all.
Also i had to come to this computer as it still has the old interface which has a link to avast which i used to get to your site and onto this forum. I could not see any link on the new interface box to do the same. :-[
A PUP (potentially unwanted program) is a program that may be unwanted, despite the possibility that users consented to download it. PUPs include spyware, adware, and dialers, and are often downloaded in conjunction with a program that the user wants.
Thanks, i do have a folder on my desktop called spyware fixes it was put there a long time ago by a friend of mine who had a computer shop and is very clever with fixing computers and at that time he did fix or find an infection.I wouldnt have a clue what the items in the folder do -well ccleaner is there and i do know that and use it.aaw2007 is there which i think is adaware but i have a later version smitfraud is there and another called Hijack this which shows sticks of dynamite and a plunger lol. If smitfraud is a problem as it is clashing with avast i have no problem with deleting it as it has never been used.Or i could try just deleting the desktop icon as this seems to be where the avast is picking it up from. But it never was picked up as a threat or infection by the previous avast version ??
