** NEW (RC?) PRE-RELEASE REFRESH 6.0.1035 IS HERE **

Now replaced by version 6.0.1044: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=74515

Hi everyone,

we will soon be releasing a new program update of avast. And as usual, we’re making it available for public testing a few days before the official release. Edit: now updated to build 6.0.1035.

This is hopefully going to be a smooth service release, designed really just to fix some of the issues of the original v6.0.1000 build.

Here’s the list of the most important changes:

  • solved an incompatibility with ZoneAlarm (WinXP)
  • improved installation of the WebRep plugins (especially Firefox)
  • solved a crash condition in the avast sandbox
  • setup programs now smaller by ~20%
  • Community features and the Welcome screen can now be turned on/off directly from program settings
  • solved an incompatibility with Outpost firewall
  • solved a bug related to the AutoSandbox offer (WinXP)
  • gadget can now be removed by simply closing it
  • new setup icons

New in v6.0.1027:

  • attempt to fix new compatibility problems with GameGuard and sXe rootkits
  • SafeZone improvements
  • localization updates (including WebRep)
  • improved sandbox logging)
  • SafeZone is now a standalone setup package (can be installed/uninstalled separately)

And new in v6.0.1035:

  • solved Firefox WebRep plugin on non-English Windows
  • solved a few incompatibility problems in BehavShield (e.g. TeraCopy)
  • improvements in password processing
  • improvements in the program uninstaller
  • sandbox improvements
  • fixed various UI issues introduced in the previous pre-release build

You can either install from scratch, or over an existing installation of avast (any version). Users of the previous pre-release builds (6.0.1021, 6.0.1027) can also use the built-in program updater.

Thanks
Vlk

okay was about time ;D >>> downloading

I would have expected for WebRep to be working by now but no it is still greyed out
Windows 7
Firefox 4 Rc 2

Updated from GUI with no noticeable errors.

Actually got the UI update prompt before the file was posted, after having checked a few minutes before and finding nothing new!

Updated from UI with no problems, also trying Outpost Firewall 7.5 public beta, no problems with compatibility between both.

Great job!

Autosandbox still holds my flash drive, not closing handles…I know Pk knows about this, but would be nice to hear more?

Is it really just me that has this problem?

Vista 32, avast Free

I can’t use autosandbox because of this… :‘( :’(

I have updated on the top of 6.0.1000 I have WebRep working in Windows 7, AutoSandbox is back… everything seems to be working good in W7… I will reporte later about Windows XP SP3…rm

Updated Pro via GUI with no obvious anomalies except WebRep. W7x64SP1. In FF4RC2, functions but no ratings-may just be server down. In IE9, as before, bar chart line is in GUI but not functional-you can’t select it. I have also noticed a couple of cases previously where programs were silently prevented from installing; suspending Avast! temporarily fixed the problem. Will look for it more carefully in this build. Wondering if it could have anything to do with initially downloading them from a sandboxed browser, even though they are saved outside the sandbox, but ???

What’s greyed out? FF in avast! GUI or the browser icon?

Downloading…
I suppose the latest language packs were added.

new RC totally crashed up my computer (maybe?).

  1. I updated program to new version
  2. restarted
  3. logo of windows 7
  4. BSOD
  5. runned recovery tool
  6. logged
  7. black screen, no explorer, no programs

now im in safe mode
what should do now?
should i try avast! uninstall tool?

need quick help

Yeah, the WebRep server seems to be down again which unfortunately isn’t very good for testing the new update. Hopefully, it will be up again soon. Till then, the ratings will be gray and/or missing…

Uninstall avast (usually no need for the uninstall utility), reboot into normal Windows mode and install from scratch…

Thanks
Vlk

Updated from the 1027 UI Summary screen on my win7 netbook, got notification when I booted it up. Update appeared to be fine and system rebooted normally after update.

WebRep icon back in firefox (server seems to be up, green) and auto-sandbox now back in the Additional Protection list.

uninstalled, rebooted, all seems to be OK. should i install 6.0.1000 version or this RC?

I’d install this RC, IMO this build is in many aspects better than the original 1000 build.

I have now done a clean install.
The icon on the Firefox interface is now green but there are no icons next to the items when searching

Updated from 6.0.1027 to 6.0.1035 via AvastUI. As DavidR stated, AutoSandbox is back in Additional Protection. Did a Quick Scan after rebooting. So far, all seems well.

Good job, Alwil.

Most complaints about grey icon come from webrep cannot connect to server issue. What’s really need is a different way to tell users that the server has taken a nap yet again, instead of using the same icon for both no rating and cannot to server. >:(

…updated via GUI form the last beta to this version too - no problems at all!

WebRep Icon back @ FF4.0 - still grey for known matter but looks promising after all!

Great support as always!

EDIT: right after posting this the WebRep icon got its colour back
