** NEW (RC?) PRE-RELEASE REFRESH 6.0.1035 IS HERE **

We had that with 6.0.1021 with the script shield and XP, this was cleared up and worked with 6.0.1027, but now we are back to where we wee with build 6.0.1021. Other than if you run WMP, which I have completely removed from XP now.

Today I saw notification of a new version. I upgraded. Since then I cannot get Explorer to work. It locks up while trying to open. I cannot get other programs to work either. They also lock up while trying to open.

To make this post, I had to disable Avast! in order to access Explorer. And I had to “Register” in order to access this thread (be able to notify someone at Avast! of this problem with whatever version replaced the previous).

What do I do now? I am running the computer with Avast! disabled. I saw no link in the new version that enables regression to the previous version that worked just fine. Please, someone provide instructions! My email is: fredericklambert@msn.com

My only other recourse is to trash Avast! and try another product, which I prefer not to do if I can quickly get resolution.

What s so good about this new update care to tell us? you seem very jumpy.

it fixes a lot of the problems that are in first 6.0 version.

nmb, I am in the same boat…win 7 64bit, 6.0.1035.

Script shield scans nothing, even when WMP is opened.

works on my vista system though…scans WMP scripts, and I never run it…

I just updated and no BSOD (at least not yet) on Win 7 64bit.

I updated through the UI and not a clean install.

And? All that says is that there should be something scanned on this machine, and there is nothing scanned.
In fact, looking at the logs, never has…

Eh… I posted that since people still think that Script Shield is supposed to scan JavaScript. You apparently didn’t get the point, never mind.

I know it scans things other than js…but you are not getting the point. IT DOESN’T WORK. clear enough?

Just from the last 24 hours running XP and Avast free 6.0.1035:

What’s the issue with WMP? Has it been fixed in this release?

Jack

I’m seeing script shield activity as well when i look at the expanded view…And yes it has scanned scripts since i installed the new build this morning…Comparable to what is shown in previous days on the old build.

Avast 6.0.1035, i3 2.13Ghz, Win7 64 SP1, Firefox 4.0

just on a side note because I’m not really interested by the feature, I just re-installed AIS from scratch (latest beta) and WebRep was immediately present in Firefox 4, with both the toolbar icon up and running + a rating in front of each entry on a Google search page ;D

Okay this said my main grievance about Avast 6 is that at least on my system - as others don’t seem to complain about that - slows down Google Chrome especially. Chrome being my default browser, that’s a bit annoying. No such issue with IE9 and FF4.

I got a strange latency when loading pages in FF4. Not sure if WebRep is responsible. Pages actually don’t take more time to load as it usually happens when it lags, it’s the loading that just stops one second in the middle of the process before resuming.

edit: no it’s not webrep, I just disabled it and restarted FF4, no change… no idea where that comes from it just started after a new AIS install, and I haven’t modified any default setting yet.

+1 It doesn’t work or it doesn’t show in the statistics/logs.

Script Shield has scanned 6 things (I don’t use IE). (Nothing has ever been in the logs, so I’m guessing that a log is only written if something is wrong, which seems normal.)

first full scan is taking too long to complete; it use to take 40 minutes here, now it’s already been 52 minutes since I started it and it’s not over…

edit: finish with 54 min + an error on Thunderbird, it was running during the scan but that’s happened before with no such error.

Here it took 22:15 mins to scan 60 GB of data. How much data do you have?

Here full scan with pup on took 38:00 min in 90 gb data.
Withought any errors.
