new scanner status, percent completed

In the simple interface, Avast shows the approximate percent the scan is complete. On a large partition (120Gb) it says 100% long before
the operation actually runs out of files to scan - sometimes hours. If this is not normal, can it be corrected? It would be best even if it only says 99% for hours, and would lend confidence the program understands what it is doing.

The displayed value is (mathematically) rounded from the (more precise) fractional value.
So, starting with 99.5%, the value is shown at 100%.

I am not sure if it’s that important - the whole progress estimation is quite a “guess”…

Yeh, Sometimes it takes like 3 seconds to get to 2% yet takes another hour to get to 12% or something, Isn’t percent of equal equivalence? out of one hundred

You can’t really estimate how long the whole scanning will take - so the percentage is imprecise as well.

The only way to find out how long the scanning will take (provided the data on disk doesn’t change in between, of course) would be to do a full scan without the percentage - and then do another one, with the percentage shown - i.e. the scan time would grow twice, just to show the correnct percents during the scan.
