NEW Version: 19.6 (June 2019)

nice update for performance

It would seem that’s the way Avast wants to go (data collecting), so you aren’t going to get a reasonable answer to that (“to help us improve the product”).
Anyway new issue, right clicking explorer scans does not bring up results after the first scan.

Not something I can confirm. Confirmation and information came up after the right click explorer scan.

Clarification
I misunderstood the original reply and can confirm the problem reported by top_stuff.
The first scan works as expected. any additional scans do not show up. I can see the animation of the sys tray icon
but, no popup ever shows to let you know that the scan has completed, etc.

In my understanding, AvBugReport sends possible bug-related information, such as crash dumps.
Overseer constantly checks and keeps sanity of Avast installation and maybe sends some operational information, such as software versions.

They have different functionalities.

Same for me, though I also manually set all saved networks to private before doing a second restart, after which I got the “Network (xxxx) detected and automatically set to Private” pop-up. All the other saved networks were still set to private.

Just installed 19.6 over-the-top using the full offline installer and all is good except the Bug Stomp fix to Sensitive Data Shield now commands 100% of CPU when SDS is run; can’t even bring up Ctrl+Shift+Esc for Task Manager to view usage. GUI does show progress but it is stuck and runs sporadically with % only showing movement, jumping some 10-12% at a time. When Cancel is clicked, SDS automatically reports as finished; doesn’t matter what the scan progress is reported as. Worked fine in 19.5 all last month.

Otherwise [fine], thanks Benko.

Hi, just tested it and can partly confirm the issue, it also takes 100% CPU here.
However, I can still open TM and other apps and the scan did finish in due course.

Hi,

I can also confirm like Asyn, parcially Sensitive scan takes 100% of CPU but i can do everything else, like open TM, others programs and the scan finishes without problems.

Regards,

That’s good news … will update and run a double boot :stuck_out_tongue:

Who can help provide: sha1 of avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe?
Why does Microsoft’s monthly patch provide sha1, comodo’s firewall also provides sha1, avast but not?

If you want to check the validity of the file, just verify its digital signature (which should be present). A valid digital signature by Avast Software means the file is OK.
Generally I’d say showing hashes (e.g. on download pages) is a bad idea. Sure, depends on what you’re trying to achieve; if only to help people decide whether their download is full or incomplete, could be. But as a security feature… if an attacker managed to compromise the web page and redirect the link somewhere else, they would obviously modify the shown hashes as well.

Have just updated my Avast free to the latest version 19.6.2383 (build 19.6.4546.494).

Highly professional and superb design.
A million tomes better than the old layout and function.
The new Smart Scan is magnificent.

Have a premier license on 2 laptops, installed all runs fine, but full scans. With the previous version a full scan woudl take around 2h30. With the new version, one of the laptops took 6 hours to complete and the other one after 5 hours is still on 30%. Not good at all.

Hi, Victor290,

Normally you do the full scan as which priority? That seens too much time. What OS do you use if you mind to say? That depends also if we are talking on a huge amount of data or for example 150 GB, for me for example i have a SSD and its very fast the scan. If this continues try for example to do a repair in definions and restart your computer. If that doesn´t work a clean install with the Avast Clean and reinstall may probably do the trick, just an advise.
Kind Regards,

Hi Wittmann44,

I completely agree with you, i´m studying in IT field, i test a lot of products and this is the best GUI around 8)

Hi fvmb
Thank you for the input. Windows 10 1803 in one machine and 1809 on the other. Medium priority and all other scan setting are the reccomended ones. Amount of data not that big, 100GB in one machine and 70GB in the other.
All other features are great, but the full scan. I run a full scan on each machine every 3 months for peace of mind. I will try as you suggest and see what happens.

Also tested and partially confirm as Asyn the CPU at 100%
Seemed to take some time at 98% scanned but eventually did complete successfully.

Hi, just tested it but can’t confirm the issue. Full scan took around one hour for 120 GB here, same as in earlier versions.

Has anyone gotten a definitive answer about the need to run the AvastClear program when uninstalling this version??
