You are still at version 24.10, perhaps - as I assumed in my first message #12 - because the problem occurred with update 24.11.
It was only then that I noticed that vps updates were no longer performed at startup.
C:\Program Files\Avast Software\AvVps exists on 24.9 too.

It certainly looks that way - I would like to hope that ‘lukas.hasik’ (or other Avast Team member/s) is/are monitoring this topic.
It is also strange that this wasn’t found in the 24.11 beta builds.
FYI, I’m on 24.11 beta and have AvVps directory.
Presumably you aren’t having this VPS Update not happening issue reported by chris… (or you have mentioned it) ?
I think I’ve confused everyone by asking about the AvVps folder.
The problem I’m seeing is that vps updates no longer seem to be performed when the computer boots or wakes up from sleep.
I’m not 100% sure, but it seems to me that they were done before the v24.11 program update.
Of course, I’m still protected by the streaming updates that run on my computer … but they stack up on the last vps update I did manually on Sunday (v241117-2).
On the other hand, if I left my computer on longer than the time scheduled in geek:area (auto-update every …) or reduced this time (e.g. 30 minutes)… the updates would take place.
The problem isn’t too serious, but I’d like to know whether it’s a bug, a personal problem or simply a deliberate change by avast

I am having no problems with definition updates and currenty on

What I did find strange when updating to 24.11 was that a AvastAv shortcut was placed on my desktop. I do not keep an Avast shortcut on my desktop and this has been the first update that has put one there for some time. A little like a new installation.
When I turned on my pc at noon I saw that update 241119-4 had finally been done.
The only thing I did yesterday was to clear the dns cache, but I have no idea if that may have released the update.
I’m still having the same update problems, and I don’t know if it’s related, but the software updater is telling me that Thunderbird is out of date (v115.16.2), whereas for the past 2 days I’ve actually been up to date (v115.16.3).
The 2 problems make me think that avast doesn’t keep a history of what it does, or that it saves in a place it can’t find.
software updater (for 3rd party software) was inaccurate like that years ago, when I gave up with it.

Yes, it used to be like that a few years ago, but since then it hasn’t been, especially with Thunderbird, where I’ve always updated via itself when SU indicated an update.
It used to be possible to reset the SU database via the hidden menu, but this is no longer possible. 
Problem with SU solved: in fact it was the thunderbird update that bugged, “about thunderbird” told me that the application was up to date (115.16.3) but in windows (add/remove) thunderbird was still at version 115.16.2.
I downloaded the new version and installed it, which solved the problem, SU now indicates that everything is up to date.
edit:However, I still have the problem of vps not updating unless I reduce the time between update requests.
Also, would you know the actions to perform (command line or program execution) to launch the update on a scheduled task that I would do at the startup of my computer?
I still haven’t updated. Has this fixed anyone’s Software Update issue? I’ll re-iterate that I never had the issue and I see that the settings screen doesn’t have the “Automatic update” option checked in anymore on Free which is good, so maybe it was a UI issue that they fixed?
Just want to make sure before I update.
Also, i’ve noticed the embedded pictures aren’t loading.

There has been a forum Server issue since last Maintenance outage and over the weekend. Seems still not fixed and ongoing.

Note this is unrelated to the Avast 24.11.xxxx program update - But the forum latest forum/community Maintenance, It’s been a pain in he backside, since then.
Not only do you get the Internal Server error - but if you are replying the reply window has to be manually closed and opt not to save the Reply window the content.
