More than 1 minute to shutdown Windows 10 because Avast ..

Did this fix the Chrome/Google issue?

I would like to get offline installer for previous version 25.10. I downloaded this link but it gives me 25.11.580.3242. the post is misleading. I need the earlier version as I have issues with the desktop not loading in my Win7 AV workstation. I have reported the problem to Avast and they have given me a list of updates to install but that did not fix the issue. I need to get my Avast functional and I reverted back and forth while testing the problem and the issue is with 25.11. If you can tell me if I can get the earlier offline installer I would be most grateful. thanks.I am unable to revert to my original setup because I was advised to completely remove Avast, apply the Win7 updates and then reinstall Avast. Unfortunately I didn’t save an image of my system at that point.

The link always delivers the latest version.
It is the same link in every new version notification so it doesn’t have to change.

Ok I now understand the link takes you to the latest version. My enquiry is to see if I can find an offline installer for the earlier version 25.10. I am following up with Avast on what the issue with my setup is but would like to see if I can get operational on the older version until i am sure of a fix.

I don’t think Avast will offer older versions. Aalso some 3rd party sources e.g. FileHippo only offer the online setup file for older versions, which then gives you the latest version, so check it is an offline installer that you are downloading from 3rd party archive sites.

Best to save offline installer for each new version of Avast when first announced here on the forum. But realise that advice is no help to you now.

Thanks for your help. After reviewing what steps I have taken so far, I suspect there is a W7 update that I still need in order to run the latest version of Avast Premium Security. The Avast site says I need Windows 7 SP1 with Convenient Rollup Update or higher but I don’t know if that is the same one that I installed today. I was advised to install Windows 7 Convenience Rollup Update for “Service Pack 2” KB3125574. I have Windows 7 Pro SP1 . Is there another Service Pack I need to update first? The only one I can see in my uninstalled updates is KB976932. Any help would be appreciated. I can always restore my system back to a usable form but without Avast installed as I took an image after completely uninstalling Avast remnants using the tool.

These are the updates Avast help asked me to make sure were installed and I did so but when I installed Avast latest 25.11 it went to a blank screen on boot-up and the only thing I could see was Task manager and a red button to shutdown after a Ctrl-Alt Del.

From Avast tech help:

Yes, the Windows 7 Convenience Rollup Update for “Service Pack 2” is KB3125574.

Yes Rod, besides the Convenience Rollup (KB3125574), Avast’s latest versions on Windows 7 require a few other critical updates and runtimes: the Servicing Stack Update (KB3020369), SHA-2 support updates (KB4474419 & KB4490628).

Yes, the order does matter for Windows 7 updates, especially when you’re dealing with the Convenience Rollup and the SHA‑2 support patches.

Correct Order of Installation

Servicing Stack Update (KB3020369) (Installed 2/12/2025)

Convenience Rollup (KB3125574) (Installed 2/12/2025)

SHA‑2 Support Updates

KB4490628 (Installed 2/12/2025)

KB4474419 (2/12/2025 Turns out this was already installed when I tried to install it!)

I installed all of these suggested updates and even de-installed the last one and reinstalled it, but on attempting to reinstall Avast it came back with exactly the same behaviour.
