Maybe it would have been better not to release the new version on April 1st.
Some users might be tempted not to take it seriously… :]

It would be nice to have an expanded explanation of what has been fixed. The reason I have effectively been forced to switch off all Network Inspector settings to stopped being plagued by Notifications from it.

I’m sure there are many others seeking the squashing of that bug.

Would appreciate hearing if this release fixes the ICARUS proliferation issues, THX

Seconded. Also the creation of a desktop icon with each update…

Would you have created this post if I didn’t bring it up in the other thread?

Be honest.

Terrible update. Causes issues whenever virus definitions update, throttles CPU causing games to freeze momentarily and YouTube to buffer. Also causing issues with YouTube live streams, making them freeze and buffer. Never had this issue before the Fools Day update

I’m not so happy that this update has eliminated the ability to select the Free/Premium components (other than Avast Browser) to be installed. If one doesn’t care to have something like Firewall, Network Inspector, etc. included at installation/upgrade time, the only way to exclude them is to use the Settings > Troubleshooting > Add/Modify components option after the initial install/upgrade to choose which features are not required then go through another reboot to complete the adjustment. I found the previous install/upgrade mechanism of component (de)selection before processing to be less cumbersome and simpler, like one less reboot. Just sayin! :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I agree, but mostly because from my view the “Customize installation” screen vanished without warning. (See New version 25.2 - #21 by dwh ). You’ve told me here of “Settings > Troubleshooting >Add/Modify” to regain access which gets it back for me, albeit with the extra reboot bother. Thanks.

I can’t use MS Office since the update. Is there any way to revert to the previous version?

Maybe this item may be of interest: Why all of a sudden all these forced popups !? - #12 by Brickstin
EDIT: The link in that item appears to be for Avast Free.

Hi,
As there are 3 or 4 versions, the automatic VPS updates don’t seem to take place at startup and after the set time (120mn), I have to force them in manu to take place.

Of course, I’m still protected by stream updates, but they end up accumulating abnormally.

So far, there have been 17 in the last 3 days.

What’s more, I’m getting a link back in the DNS cache to “ping.avast.com.akamaized. net”, just like the last time the updates weren’t happening, so I think the 2 are linked.

edit:just after my post, it updated automatically :upside_down_face:

They call that Sod’s Law in England

I just noticed that Avast Offline Installation Files | Avast has been updated with 25.4. I confirmed by downloading the free version and checking its properties. I don’t see any announcement here. Of course I’ll be waiting for formal announcements and see how feedback from initial users goes.

A recurring theme for over a year.

Community announcements are no longer made in real time, so you have to wait a while for the avast team to post a dedicated topic.

For information, the update to version 25.4 is also available directly via the program.

obviously not much new

I do not update version manually until I am triggered by an announcement here on the forum. I then wait a few days until any regressions are flagged before updating in app.
I then download the offline installer from the link in the announcement for version backup purposes, in case of regression issues in the next version release..
So I now await announcement of 25.4 by Avast employee at some point in next few days.

It’s there now.
