Fixed an issue on Windows 11 24H2 where some websites could fail to load when Web Shield was scanning connections that use the QUIC protocol, caused by coalesced network packets sent by the operating system that could not be decrypted correctly.
SCANS
Fixed an issue where scan history incorrectly reported that a scan was “stopped before it finished” when the scan had completed normally but was unable to read certain locked or in-use files.
NOTIFICATIONS
Fixed an issue where the options button (…) next to entries in the “Ignored Issues” dialog did not respond when clicked, preventing users from unignoring items.
PRIVACY & BROWSERS
Fixed an issue where the Avast Secure Browser icon was displayed in colour in the browser list even when Avast Secure Browser was not installed on the device.
SETUP WIZARD
Fixed a layout issue in the Premium Security setup wizard where the “Continue” button text overlapped the “More info” link. [Premium Security]
Just updated. Upon reboot Avast tried to install Avast Secure Browser. Very dissapointed.
You have to be very vigilant and check everything. Deselect all checkboxes. Don’t click OK. Just close the window with X.
A lot of people will fall for this trick, and it’s just sad Avast feels the need to foist their crap on people. I used to recommend Avast for inexperienced users, but I’ve stopped doing that. This kind of stuff is exactly why.
That, unfortunately makes it harder to fathom why it is happening.
That said, generally I don’t reboot immediately after a manual program update (it may be a day or two), but after a subsequent reboot nothing new. I don’t know if that would be a factor.
Another bug: When doing a manual scan of a folder, the ‘nothing found’ popup stays up. I have to close it myself instead of it going away after a few seconds. Very annoying.
To test I have just done a manual update which reported it was downloading components and it only took a few seconds. It currently shows the same build number. I will do a restart soon and see what it says then.
