Can you send the samples to virus@avast.com ?
You can zip and password the files… Inform a link to this thread and the password used.
Thanks.
Also, you can use Alwil FTP server as a second way to transfer only big files. Upload them to ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming (please, note that you won’t have READ access to the ftp server, just write - so you won’t even be able to see what you’ve just uploaded).
It isn’t recommended to use the ftp option as that isn’t monitored and may sit there for some time, we are advised only to use this if asked to do so by a member of the Alwil team.
You can also add the file to the User Files (File, Add) section of the avast chest where it can do no harm and send it from there (select the file, right click, email to Alwil Software). No need to zip and PW protect when the sample is sent from chest.
You could also check the offending/suspect file at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner I feel virustotal is the better option as it uses the windows version of avast (more packers supported) and there are currently 32 different scanners.
Or Jotti - Multi engine on-line virus scanner if any other scanners here detect them it is less likely to be a false positive. Whichever scanner you use, you can’t do this with the file in the chest, you will need to move it out.
I send the virus by e-mail, to virus@avast.com…
I use the www.virustotal.com to scan the file and many anti-virus reconized the file like a virus, but the avast! no.
I realy need the avast! VPS update to kill this virus…
Waiting a return
Jonas
