New WebRep, now with Sandboxing?

I never liked WebRep since it seems like everybody and their dog can vote on whether or not a website is safe, it just seemed fallible and therefore pretty useless to me. Not only that, you put it on the Menu Bar (Windows XP, IE8) which increased the width of said bar and looked stupid there. It would’ve been better down on the Command Bar with the rest of the buttons.

Now it seems as though you’ve combined WebRep and Sandboxing so you’ve made the WebRep more indispensible because I don’t know if I’m also disabling something else important (what exactly does this Sandboxing do that you had to tie it into the WebRep capabilities?)

Can this WebRep/Sandboxing button be moved to the Command Bar or does it have to stay in the Menu bar and look stupid there?

What is this Sandboxing capabilitity you’ve tied into WebRep and why did you combine the two?

I don’t like WebRep (WAY too fallible) and I resent that it was made more indispensible by incorporating Sandboxing capabilities into it.

What’s the deal? -kd5-

It looks fine in Firefox or Chrome. It’s IE’s fault that it lands there in its own toolbar. There is nothing avast! team can do about it as far as i can tell.

I don’t believe that for a microsecond. -kd5-

Well then, what can we say? It’s been already asked before. You could change it manually (search it, as it is not avast - dependent), but avast can’t install it in a different way for IE.

Regardless of the location of WebRep in the browser, what about the combining of sandboxing with WebRep? What’s the deal? What about the people who don’t want to use WebRep? -kd5-

Sandboxing is not tied to WebRep at all.

edit: maybe you mean File Rep, unrelated to Web Rep. That works with the sandbox.

Well, the upgrade finally came through on my own computer, it seems to have gone seemlessly although I have disabled WebRep altogether until someone can figure out how to get it out of the Menu bar (and possibly into the Command bar) in IE8. I’m not switching browsers just because WebRep looks stupid where it is. Not only that, but since everybody and their dog can vote on whether a page is safe, it just seems a little too susceptible to dubious manipulation (and therefore pointless) to me. -kd5-

in fact somehow it became sort of tied, as an option but in the paid versions only as far as I know. I asked if that was available in the free version too and someone told me that it isn’t. Reason I asked is because it involves the full sandboxing feature of pro and ais.

In IE I just left click on webrep in a spot on it that makes the four arrows symbol and dragged it to the upper right part of the screen. Look at the photo I have included.

Also needed to say I also made the double arrow symbol on the left line of webrep and dragged it to the right to make its area small.

I made this shot which might show it better but it may be to wide, going to post it to see.

It’s definitely not in Avast Free. It showing under Browser Protection in Pro and AIS is probably just to draw attention to it’s availability, and of course as a convenience.

Ah, good to know, thanks.
