No Automatic Updates

Hi there,
Just wondering why the Auto Updates don’t seem to be working on my iMac? I had two updates yesterday on my Windows machine and none on my iMac until I went for manually, and that worked!

The same thing seems to be happening today. I have a new update on my Windows machine and the iMac is still sitting on Oct 2nd and no update at all for Oct 3rd.

I wonder what is happening??

Hello,
thank you for the notification. I’m not able to reproduce the issue at this moment but I will try so. Some test scenarious take unfortunatelly long time.

What is your Avast program version? If 8.0, did you made a clean installation or did you upgraded from a version 7.0?

What you could try is to uninstall the avast! application and install it again (between 7.0 and 8.0 where important internal changes).

Best Regards,
Martin

Hi Martin,

Well while I was putting together this reply…a red screen comes up from Avast and says “Internal Error” check your logs…etc…

I ignored that, and all of a sudden Avast says updated to version 131000400 which is GREAT as the last one I had was from

Oct 2nd.

I updated my Avast without a fresh install just through the internal updater… I have 8.0(39915) so all appears to be back

normal… Thanks.

I have MacBookPro OS v. 10.6.8 with same issue of only manual update. I think this issue existed before update to version 8 Avast. Maybe a Mac version issue??

Hi there,
I was starting to think I was the only one having this issue. I have done a fresh install and have posted again re this issue.

It looks like it is an AVAST thingy and nothing to do with our machines… thanks for posting!

Hi,
I’ve tried to reproduce the issue in the way that I have installed an old version 39141, updated to 39902 and then to the current 39915 and wait for the updates. The updates seem to be working properly.

If the update has occured after an internal error message, it would indicate that the avast daemon (taking care of too many tasks including updates and currently being rewritten) has stucked from a certain reason.

Unfortunatelly, if this behavior repeates after an uninstallation and a clean installation, I don’t know what to advise at this moment.
