???
I downloaded free avast today. But doesn’t seem to be loading correctly.
No Blue avast blue appears, not able to open from start menu either. So what do I do now to get working? I do have license code but unable to open to enter it also.
More info will be needed: your op system, current security programs, put these in your signature in your profile settings, also prior security programs, if any. Also if you have the blue ball I believe that is not the current Avast! (orange ball now)…you ran installer after download, right?
Go to profile, up above ^, then forum profile info, might not be able to if you have less than 20 posts, if not, simply post normally ( as you already did ). No old AV or firewall?
I have less than 20 posts so can’t add info yet it seems. I have Spysweeper with Windows XP firewall it seems…I allowed Avast… but doesn’t seem to be a full download. No ball of any kind showing up, nor am I able to open from icon
More qualified help should answer your post…might be a bit as its 7a.m. at Avast! HQ, they are just cooking breakfast Wait if you are patient, or check back later tonight/tomorrow. I would not try installing new Avast! till you are sure all of this (apparently?) bad download is gone 1st, if it even took at all (check your program files for any Avast! or Alwill folders?)
Ok…
If you are going to install a virus scanner, here are a couple of things you need to do first:
Make sure you do NOT have any other virus software installed. Make certain you have used the proper removal tools to uninstall said software if you do.
Temporarily turn off firewall. Reinstate firewall after complete install is finished, then configure the permissions.
Turn off any anti malware, spysweeping, anti-spamming, anything. When you are installing anti-virus software, you do NOT want anything else running.
Download and install the software. Do any updates.
Now, one at a time, turn back on the other stuff. Start with the firewall. Be sure to ALLOW avast thru the wall. Then turn on any of the spysweeper stuff…be prpared. The spysweeper stuff may conflict with the anti-virus stuff. If it does, decide which you whish to keep, then uninstall the other.
