I use avast for 2 years without problems.
Now I removed because of a different virus scanner. (Which was not ok for me)
So now I installed Avast again but I do not have a blue icon on the right bottom of the toolbar (beside the clock) as used.
Have removed and installed it again. ( more times) Restore, search and remove malware, spyware search and remove.
Nothing helps … what is the problem?
Please help me
What virus scanner was it?
After you removed Avast, did you restart your computer like it said and then used the removal tool and then restarted and then redownloaded Avast and then restarted?
Do you see it running in task manager under processes? ash*.exe some like that? Maybe you have the icon hidden, right click taskbar > properties > notification area ? Check my attached screen shot, I’m running Vista but I think there might be something like that also in XP.
If that fails did you try to uninstall, reboot, run the avast! Uninstall utility reboot, then try a new install?
the virusscanner was McAfee…lot of problems with it…
and no problems with Avast,
Yes I restart the pc when He ask for it…etc etc…
so I already said…I have already uninstall mcafee…( yes also with the special tools from macafee)
But the problem is that I have no blue icons…
- Check the option in the Appearance tab of settings.
or
- Repair your avast installation through Control Panel.
or
- Make a link to ashdisp.exe in your startup folder
or
- Add the path to ashDisp.exe into a value named avast! in the Windows Registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

If that does not help, please, uninstall, boot, install again, boot.
What other security based software do you have that might block new startup entries, e.g. Spybot S&D (TeaTimer), AdAware (AdWatch), SpySweeper, Spyware Doctor (StartUpGuard), PrevX, WinPatrol, ProcessGuard, etc.?
