Hi, these popups were removed from V2015 as in fact with streaming updates you are getting ~200 updates/day. So showing a message that virus database has been updated twice a day isn't correct. In case your virus definitions will be too old we will advise you to make manual update. Otherwise no manual updates needed.

You will still get a daily round up update or two but mainly it will be by streaming updates

Yes, as long as you have streaming updates enabled.

GUI>Settings>Updates>tick the box.

as I have indicated, that the virus database, so every 20 minutes, was the automatic update, it doesn’t auto-update, avast free by 2015

  1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.
