No Progress Shown For Context-menu Scans

For the last several versions, Avast no longer shows any progress when files or folders are selected for scanning from the right-click context menu. In fact, there is no indication, whatsoever, that Avast is even scanning it. You can’t tell if it scanned, what the results were or if it is completed.

PS: you need a new verification system. It’s virtually impossible to read the image …unless you are trying to prevent humans from posting.

Has to be difficult to prevent the spammers, it could do with being even harder again imo though it’s only for the first three posts.

It’s visible in the bottom right corner. see https://imgur.com/a/n84AGTX

Do you have silent mode enabled?

nowhere is there any indication of progress.

No

I think I found the problem: it doesn’t work on XP machines. Apparently, the progress indicator was abandoned before the planned cut-off of XP support. It works on my Win 7 machine.

There is still some sort of indication on my XP Pro system, first I see some activity of the avast tray icon and then a completion popup. Do you get that ?

For a very long time there were no details shown as this was meant to be a very quick scan (hence its file name ashQuick.exe). It only threw up any notification if there was an alert (audible and visual) to allow you to get back to you work.

No: no indication that it is scanning and no pop-up showing results. I used to get that pop-up upon completion and the taskbar icon would become active during the right-click selected scan, but that stopped a few versions ago.

In your settings under General, is the Animate the icon when scanning
feature checked ???

Yes

Since I haven’t used XP in many years, I really have no other suggestions.
