My OS is Win7 and when I play a video (e.g. any youtube.com video) from IE8, I get no sound. The same video plays perfectly fine with FireFox.
What can I do to correct the problem?

I have several computer at home and they run different OS. I can’t show all OS in my signature tag.
As for the country, most users show but some not and I don’t.
Hi some video’s come without sound as it is copyrighted and the sound under it has been removed for reasons of that kind,

When I wrote, I did test. I did say it works fine with FireFox. So the question of testing a video without sound doesn’t arise.
For example, http://www.timesnow.tv/ works fine with FireFox and not IE8 on my computer.
I have no problem with the sound here in all 3 of the following browsers:
1 Firefox
2 IE8
3 Google Chrome
But I do have problem with IE8.
Hi,
Give this tool a try(run with administrator rights) : http://www.thewindowsclub.com/repair-internet-explorer-with-fix-ie-utility
Its a reliable source.
I can’t guarantee that it will fix the sound problem. But try it.
If you face any problems while running IE, maybe after recovering from a malware attack, run this tool to re-register around 89 dll & ocx files, which are required for the smooth running of Internet Explorer.

Thanx. It didn’t fix the problem.
Hi se224141,
Update your flash player in IE that may cure the problem. Also look if the program is being performed in the right Windows compatibility mode,

Hi. Go to youtube and play a video. Then click on the volume button in the bottom of the task bar. Then click on mixer. Check and see if the volume in internet explorer is turned up.(If you don’t get this part, look at the attached picture.)
Thanx Friend. THis was the problem. I don’t know how this was muted. I didn’t know about this.
Weird though that this didn’t also impact Firefox if it was as you say set to mute. I would have thought that there was no specific setting for IE, it is an application and windows sounds after all ;D
Please see the pic posted by mathboyx215. In my case, only Internet Explorer was muted and the others were not. So FireFox worked but IE8 didn’t.
I saw it, what I’m saying is why on earth have they split off IE into its own category when it quite rightly falls into the windows sounds, applications, where obviously the other browsers are covered.
No problem man. Glad I could help.
