For about a month now I’ve had no sounds in Avast home.
I’m running Vista home premium 64 bit.
Is this some thing new?
It shouldn’t…
There are some leftovers of avast 4 version when you install 5 beta.
But the sounds are there on version 5 either (although different sounds).
P.S. Hope programmers change the installation of 5 to remove the old version 4 entries.
This should work:
right click the a ball, program settings, sounds, settings, scroll down to avast and look for .wav files for each Avast sound. If they are not there, search the Avast folders for them and copy each .wav to the appropriate file.
For example the file name for the update sound is:
program files\software\avast4\english\vpsupd.wav
In your case the file name portion ‘vpsupd.wav’ WILL be missing from the above path. That’s why you are not getting the update message. You are going to have to copy it into the above path.
I had exactlly the same problem.
If you find this too difficult to follow I would just suggest waiting for Avast 5.
