Okay, so itās probably just an issue with my PC. Manually checking for updates didnāt change anything. Iāve also never had any BSODs, system freezes, or disk problems, so nothing else should have caused Avast to become corrupted except its own update process, which went smooth as usual.
I generally have my program updates set to manual and wait for notifications and update details any related hiccups in the forum before updating manually.
However, as a result of someone mentioning they had been updated to 26.3 (and the Limited Mode in notifications was no longer there) when there had been no notification on the forum.
So I fired off a Manual update followed by a restart (to confirm the Limited Issue, confirmed and Avast are Aware of this now) and not seeing this problem.
I think we should take DavidRās sentence as a whole and ignore the parentheses:
So I fired off a Manual update followed by a restart and not seeing this problem.
The problem is the one posted by @TheOwner , namely
I noticed that I am no longer receiving streaming updates.
As for me, Iāve never had this issue with micro-updates after upgrading to version 26.3.
However, going back to Davidās aside, it was more to explain the reason behind his approach⦠to check that the ālimited modeā setting was no longer there.
I can confirm that the setting was no longer there and that itās still not there at this time.
The fix @prokopes_ suggested doesnāt seem to have been addressed by Avast yet.
Furthermore, regarding the āNotificationsā settings menu, the option relating to the use of external storage also seems to have disappeared.
The most annoying thing about this is not so much that it has disappeared from the menu, but rather that it does not appear in the release notes for version 26.3, which we see immediately after the update.
It is not just a matter of a few bug fixes; there has clearly been a change to the programme, which is not a sign of complete transparency.
I have been monitoring this issue for several days and can confirm that streaming updates are not working.
I have also tested this on a second computer, where the issue is exactly the same ā no streaming updates are being received.
Troubleshooting steps already performed:
Avast repair ā no effect
Complete uninstall and fresh reinstall ā no effect
Full system restore (Macrium Reflect) to a state with Avast version 26.2 ā streaming updates were working correctly
After upgrading again to version 26.3 ā streaming updates stopped working immediately
This clearly indicates that the issue is directly related to version 26.3 and is not caused by a corrupted installation or local system problem.
Since streaming updates are a critical part of real-time protection, this represents a serious security risk. I strongly recommend that this issue is investigated and addressed with high priority.
Since I changed my update settings yesterday, Iām no longer receiving streaming updates either, even though theyāre enabled.
However, I was receiving them fine before I changed the VPS update settings from āAutomaticā to āRemind me ā¦ā
Itās odd that the person who wants updates(streaming) isnāt getting them, and the person who doesnāt want them(VPS)⦠is getting them.
Hi, thank you for reporting this issue. I just wanted to confirm that weāre looking into it and it will be fixed as soon as possible. Sorry about the trouble!
Hi again! Weāve just pushed out a microāupdate that should fix the streaming updates issue.
It should install automatically, but you can also check for a program update in Settings (the second CHECK FOR UPDATES button) and restart your PC.
