NordVPN openvpn-nordvpn.exe false positive as IPD.Generic

I have been running into a problem when using NordVPN’s services and managed to narrow down the culprit.

After every time I would disconnect from a VPN, I would be unable to reconnect unless I reinstalled the entire program. After getting fed up with this headache, I did some digging and found out that avast! has been putting one of the integral executables for NordVPN in its virus chest, detecting it as IDP.Generic, whenever I would disconnect from a VPN. Here’s a screenshot. I’ve used NordVPN in the past alongside avast! without ever experiencing this issue, so I’m not sure why this has suddenly become a problem.

I’ve submitted the file as a false positive, but in the meantime, if anyone uses NordVPN and also has this problem, try checking your virus chest for the solution.

Hello,

we marked the certificate of the issuer for the NordVPN as clean, so after a while when you get the update, the detection should be appearing no more.

Thank You for the report.
