Norton 2002 uninstall issue

First I’d like to say Avast is an excellent program and have been using it on my desktop succesfully for some time without issue. However, I have recently (today 11-29-04) installed it on my HP laptop that came with Norton AV 2002 pre-installed.

After installing Avast! 4.5.523 (November) and rebooting, I received a message that Avast and Norton won’t play together.

So, after doing some research on how to uninstall norton correctly I removed the liveReg, Norton System Works, LiveUpdate programs from windows Add/Remove programs, I still got that the error message. Then I ran the RnisUPG.exe utility from Norton. Now I have uninstalled and re-installed Avast! and I’m still getting the same message.

Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Although it seems that you have uninstalled NAV, you have not removed it entirely. Checkout this board, the correct way/uitls to completly remove NAV are mentioned/told in many threads, including the links to to the uninstall util from Symantec.

for letting us know.
Have you already updated to the latest official release? 4.5.542?
If not, just right click on the blue ball and select update > program.
Don’t forget to re-boot when asked to do so. ;D

What about me? 2minutes after you posted your problem here I already gave you the solution. You even didn’t had the time to read a book ;D
