What is your browser and version number (plus Operating System) ?
I suspect that you may be using the Avast Secure Browser (which I don’t use) ?
If so this might be better posting this in the requisite version of the Avast Secure Browser - Avast Secure Browser - Avast Community - Android, iOS or Windows.

Unfortunately I don’t use MS Edge either (or any Chromium based browser like the Avast Secure Browser) so I haven’t experienced this sign-in issue you are reporting.
My default browser is Firefox, if it is closed (rarely) I just open it no sign-in required.
I don’t know if this is a Chromium thing to log into your account and not the same as logging into your Avast Account ?
No, i sign up in one same browser. Plus i still can sign in 3 months ago so it might be an issue with avast website because i tried to repair the software many times.
Unfortunately I don’t know where it is that you are having to sign or why. I can only hope someone using Edge can jump in as I have never experienced this in Firefox.

Like DavidR I am confused by what you are attempting to sign-in to.
(Note some of us forum members are using Avast Free, so do not see some of the Avast Premium windows)
Are you attempting to sign-in to Avast Premium after setting a password for Avast Premium settings?
OR
Are you attempting to sign-in to your Avast Account to do something?
