Not possible to delete a file in Quarantine

Hi,

I got a file in the Quarantine folder but avast is not able to remove it from the list.

Tried several times, clicking “delete” or “delete all” do no produce any effect.

Restarted the computer, tried again… the file is still there!

How can I remove it?

NOTE: The file was detected while converting a RAR file to change the password. The file was never executed.
Strangely, the original RAR (which contained other, non infected, files) was also deleted.

Avast free 22.10.6038 (build 22.10.7633.752)
Windows 8.1 64bit

Update: tried “restore” as no effect either.

Try reinstalling Avast Antivirus and see if that will remove it from the list.

Rather than uninstall and then reinstall… is possible to manually delete the files? Where are they located?

It was probably already deleted, hence you getting this issue.

Anyway, can you tell me where they should be located, in which folder?

Not last, is possible to get rid of the entries listed in the quarantine window? (maybe by modifying or deleting a file?)
In the folder “Chest” there is a file (index.xml) which seem contains the entries listed in the quarantine window… maybe deleting this file can remove the entries listed?

Hi,

  1. Open AV > Menu > Settings > General > Troubleshooting > disable self-defense
  2. Go to C:\ProgramData\Avast Software\Avast\chest and delete the index.xml file
  3. Enable self-defense again
  4. Restart device

If still an issue, reinstall Avast Antivirus (the only other solution)

Thanks a lot for your help, the entries that was listed in the Quarantine window are gone now!

One last help… just to be sure, can you tell me where the Quarantine files are stored, in which folder?
