Not responding message

Hello,

Avast is not working: I get a “not responding” message. I tried Troubleshooting - Repair App and nothing happened.
I’m using Avast Premium Security 21.5.2470 (build 21.5.6354.680), Virus definitions version 210725-4, Number of definitions 26,091,147, UI version 1.0.646, Windows 10 64 bit Pro.

Could anybody help me, please? I can’t run any scans!

After several attempts, I could finally scan my PC yesterday. But now I’m having the same problem: Avast won’t open or it does after trying lots of times… such a waste of time…

I’ve been using this same PC for one year now without any changes, with Avast Premium. I’ve just checked Windows Security and it reads: “Microsoft Defender Antivirus is turned off - Windows Firewall is turned off”, so I suppose it’s not interfering with Avast?

First, be sure to get rid of all remnants of any prior installed AV(s)…!!

Then:

  1. Download Avast Premium Security: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_premium_security_setup_offline.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.
