Notification settings

Finally Avast Free has added “limited notification” in the notification settings which shows alerts when a malicious attack is detected, but blocks any pop-up offers.
So finally commercial pop-ups with offers should not appear for those who do not want to view them.

I believe this option already existed in the previous version.

Though you don’t mention it in your post or forum signature, I guess you are using the latest beta as the current version of Avast Free that I have is 23.12.6094 (build 23.12.8700.813) and the UI (1.0.793) differs slightly but offers a limited mode. Image attached.

Hi, David,
yes you are right I didn’t indicate it, I’m using version 23.12.6094 (build 23.12.8700.813) and the user interface (1.0. 793).

Interesting, considering we have the same version and UI version, your settings are in plain sight, where I have to open it up to select.

That said this setting probably doesn’t apply to the Smart Scan - Advanced Issues - which is basically suggesting you buy Advanced Protection.

In previous versions I don’t remember there being this choice, so it was finally a long-awaited new release.
Strange that it wasn’t communicated in the releases of the new versions.

They were probably hoping we wouldn’t see it so that no one would change the setting.

I thought the same thing :joy:

Hello,
“Limited mode” seems awesome on paper, but anyone tested it?

I would like to kindly ask someone from Avast Team, what exactly “Limited mode” do in Avast Free version.

Does “Limited mode” block only ads and offers, or also block something important? (Ads and offers are not important for me).

I dont want to lose important notifications about detections, blocked websites, vulnerable drivers, outdated virus database, etc…

Thank you.

At the moment I am using this notification mode and I am no longer receiving pop-ups warning of incomplete protection which, however, only serve to push you to switch to page products with VPN. etc…
So I’m only receiving popups in case of detection of malware, malicious websites, etc… i.e. important protection notifications.

In my opinion, this is fine and Avast had to do it for a long time, because all the users, especially with Avast Free, complained about these annoying commercial pop-ups and chose other AV Free solutions.
In any case, the user is always free to choose the type of notifications he wants to receive.

I thought it was a positive point for AVAST to include this option. It was really good.

Yes this notification option is very very good.

On Avast HELP page I found this screenshot. It seems Premium security has additional settings “Silent mode + Threat alerts”.
Please tell me, what is diference between “Limited mode” and “Silent mode + Threat alerts”?

That text has no sense, it blocks alerts, but it shows important notifications about malicious attacks. I thought “alert” = “detection”.

Thank you.
