You will probably get better help at the link below.

If your computer boots up and displays info, then it already has the standard VGA driver installed. Turn off the computer (and UNPLUG IT), pop the card in, start the computer. Install the drivers, reboot when asked (if it doesn’t ask, reboot anyway).

Presumably since you don’t have a graphics card your motherboard will have a graphics chip and there should be a driver installed for that already. So I don’t know if installing the new card would disable this driver or if you would need to disable the graphics chip in the BIOS/CMOS settings.

Usually don’t have to disable anything in the BIOS. You might want to actually TELL the BIOS to use the AGP / PCI-X card first or set it as default, but it’s usually not necessary.

START COMPUTER WHERE LAST KNOW SETTING WORK, START IN SAFE MODE OR START IN SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING and so on n when i pick an option it starts over to the windows logo the back to the options screen

If you mean you pick an option and it starts over again ending up back on the options screen, then possibly your activation period for your operating system has run its 30 days, so you will need re-install or take back to vendor (if OEM). (Normally I would say most likely the case, but then I’m not there with you).

You cant set up a video card through bios. It is already done (bios is ROM but can modified by flash) for standard VGA and many third party VGA and made ready to take a driver for the rest. Once you can boot through to Windows you need to check device manager if driver for card has not loaded automatically. Its not unusual for these card driver to load automatically. But it may not have, you will see the yellow exclamation for problem (likely) or red X if disabled (unlikely).

But you need to sort out booting thru to Windows first. Do this with standard (onboard) vga then check device manager.

The fx5500 is a bit dated and Nvidia are wrapping their drivers into generic packages, so you need to search archive and come to this package http://www.nvidia.com/object/wdm_geforce2-fx_2.26.html. This driver should work with your card. I say should only because it is packaged with functionality for unlike drivers. This is not a problem. There are other alternatives. Booting to Windows sounds like your problem. If you do that, post reply here and I will help you set up your rig.

You will need drivers for your motherboard as well. You may have the disk?
