My daughter signed up for a Yahoo email address yesterday because she wanted to order a gift for someone from ebay.
She doesn’t have an account with ebay so she signed in as a guest. She tried to submit her order but she said there was a circle that just kept spinning with a padlock in the circle. She tried to use her debit card but it also asked for her checking account number so she gave it to ebay. After that she said Microsoft popped up and said her account had been hacked. She went to her bank and tried to use her debit card to get some money out but it showed she only had 7 cents in her checking account. Somehow someone took all the rest of her money out of her checking account.
How would Microsoft know that her account had been hacked?
I searched for the sellers name this am. but it showed not found. My daughter told me her name was sohue and she was from China. I purchased the same item from a different seller but it didn’t ask for my checking account number.
I’m sure this fake seller is the person who took all the money out of my daughter’s checking account.
@Pondua…It’s Columbus Day and the banks aren’t open today. She did talk to someone at Microsoft but he told her the pop-up from Microsoft was not from them.
BTW…She didn’t have any anti-virus installed but last evening I told her to install Avast which she did but has not yet run a scan.
