Off Topic Forum

Hi, I’m just curious as to why there is an “Off Topic” forum here which is closed, and hasn’t had a post since 2005. I would delete it or leave it open rather than it just taking up space. :slight_smile:

Space I would say isn’t a large factor and for those that use the forum search function, contains a wealth of information.

Not to mention, the deletion of the off-topic forum would delete all the posts and would have an impact on the post stats for all those that did contribute to the forums and who are still active in the avast support forums.

Absolutely no one “talks” in the closed Off Topic section of these forums.

Most of the topics were strange like ‘Strange Toilets’ ‘Mexico’s Independance Day’ ‘Too Old to get married’ ;D

I think there were lots of flames and finally they decided to make it a memorial.

Only a few. The majority knew the difference between a discussion and flaming.
Unfortunately, the few ruined it for the majority. Such is life. :cry:

same has been done on another forum that I know well (XtremeSystems). There use to be a “speak freely” section and there’s been so much flaming and controversial topics they decided to close it forever. Seems to happen on many places ;D

And, this is happening in other sections of the forums to this day. Just look at the locked threads caused by the few.

Off topic areas get out of hand pretty easily. Pick a slightly controversial topic and you’ll find somebody to flame.
